Title: 2017 net footage
Post by: WalkingWicket37 on April 09, 2017, 10:11:07 PM
Hi all

As the winter nets have finished and our outdoor nets have been put up, the 2017 season has officially begun!

Here is some footage from my first outdoor net of the season.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb0veuEV0OY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb0veuEV0OY)

I have cropped out wides and waffle between balls. At around 2.58 the camera zooms in. The ball hit the tripod when I threw it back which changed the angle. I therefore cropped out the side netting which wasn't adding anything to the footage.

Any tips or feedback appreciated as always.

Cheers
Cam

First time saw you play with high front elbow at 1.25 :) must admit havent seen all your videos.
Try and put that to practice for most of off side play rather than swatting them to mid wicket... :D

Only seen the first two balls, but you seem to be a bit of a front foot planter, not sure if that's a symptom or a cause. Both times your foot goes across only to have to move again because it the balls to straight for where it is.

Keep your back foot, pointing to 'point' for as long as possible (almost like its fixed to the ground).

Wait for the ball to come to you, and play the ball under your head/chin once you have moved towards the ball with your head and shoulders.

Should help a bit, can feel very strange to start!

But what was the second thing he (whoever he is) did that pissed him (whoever him is) off so much?

@WalkingWicket37 - Shots from the video footage at time stamp 2:04 & 2:10 => Superb! Cracking sound of the willow clearly shows that it was a very good shot.

Timestamp 2:24 => Nice late block!

Here is the footage of me facing the bowling machine at the last CBF Southern net at Eversley (Saturday 15th April 2017)

To my eyes you're looking so much better Cameron. Has @Buzz been passing on some wisdom!

Keep up the hard work, its definitely paying off :)

He has indeed!

Even a couple of teammates seem to have noticed that I've improved which is nice (totally meaningless when you're batting at 11 every week anyway, but thats a different conversation!)

And some footage facing the bowling machine today.

This was on an under prepared grass net, and using "unofficial balls" with the Bola machine.
The result, the balls were somewhat unpredictable (which is rather good practice!)

This isn't the best net I've ever had, but with the unpredictability of each ball I'm interested to hear peoples thoughts on this one!

P.s if you don't want to watch the whole video I get pinned at 07.28!

As I was in the other net, I missed your batting Cam, you look totally different, the confidence you have now is poles apart.
For a start your no longer looking to cow/sweep everything, really good to see.

Main thing is, you've gotta carry this through to when your batting in a match
Value your wicket, and occupy the crease
Even batting lower down the order, you will still get opportunities, and that's your chance to put all the practice to use

Really good to see mate

Watched a few of your earlier ones and you're definitely improving.
You have a very strong bottom hand, illustrated in this shot (http://i64.tinypic.com/28i9tz6.jpg)
Try to work on that, believe Gilchrist used half a squash ball to counter that.
AB DeVilliers' masterclass on grip shows how he grips it.
