Title: Shortening Handle.

How do I chop 3/4 inch in a straight path off the handle. I have used a hacksaw, the cheapest type and ended with an angled cut. Any advice please ? #Shortman problems  :D

You'll never get a straight cut with a hacksaw. you need a fine tooth wood saw with a decent blade depth or even a circular saw. If you clamp the bat so the handle is level you can get a straight line marked perpendicular to that level and then just cut through... take you time and it will be straight forward

You should? Be able to get it fairly straight with a hacksaw
Take your time, stand like a boxer, let the saw do the work, and check as you go.

How many guys do you play cricket with that take a square to cricket, to check how straight your bat handle end is?
Don't stress about it

You can also sand it square after too

Hacksaw works well enough for me. Light sand afterwards . No probs .

I had a junior hacksaw in my head.... I suppose with hacksaw it should be easy enough to get a straight cut...

If you don't have an electric mitre saw I suggest:
1. Wrap tape around the handle so that the edge of the tape is on the line where you want to cut. This will give you a guide to follow.
2. Use a tenon saw (hacksaw is for metals and plastics) to cut.
3. Use a file and 60/80 grit paper to remove the edge.
