I dont seem to have a problem in playing the shot to a low full toss, but how do those of you who play the shot well avoid poor timing and have the ball spooning up off the leading edge.
I have practised the shot in a shadow batting stylee and I appreciate more practice in the nets will help. Just wondering if anyone has a certain training technique that may help.

I guess if you are getting leading edges consistently you are closing the face to early or trying to hit too square.
Try playing with a straighter bat and aim towards mid on/ mid wicket, once perfected, try hitting it squarer thereafter.

check to see if you have the basics right !
holding bat, alinement etc!
hope that helps

This is classic! They are trying to make a nice professional clip, but the people doing the demo are dressed in jeans and jumpers!!
And the niether guy demonstrating is particularly fluent!! It made me giggle anyway!!

what a lovely set of jumpers....that's my christmas nightmare right there....and where's the bleedin wicket?
grip is fine as per monsieur woolmer's advice as is alignment...more problems experienced when attempting front foot leg glance.

I think that video demonstrates how to become prone to LBW decisions!
Sounds like your falling over the shot, alo dont try and close the face too early. i used to have this problem.

as i left hander its supposed to be 1 of the easier shots in the game the leg glance
but i find it 1 of the more challenging!

Try and hit it straighter than where you roughly want the ball to go to, this will help
-
Oh dear this is even worse...

thanks for all you're advice peeps. i think trying to play it a little straighter will help. I presume that tucking a leg stump ball off the legs has a similar approach?
-
I have NEVER played a leg glance like the first video lol

i would say the same, keeping the face open for as long as possible using the angle of the delivery to hit the ball into the leg side

Couldnt agree more, a really good shot to perfect.
-
i would say that your head is more than likely falling over slightly
-
what kind of guard do you take?

I'd agree with Stubbzy there, Just reading Bob Woolmers book and he says most leading edges are caused by the head moving to the off side and the batsman overbalancing.
