Title: Tour destinations in Mainland Europe
Post by: Kulli on April 19, 2017, 08:56:59 AM
Morning all,

With 2017's UK tour just days away I'm now looking at booking a 2018 tour (we always do UK, non UK on a rotation) and wondered if anyone had any experience with european tours, and places/clubs to recommend. Since looking outside the UK we've been to Alicante (Sporting Alfas) and Beziers (Midi CC), and while we had a great time with both, it's always more fun going somewhere new.

Usually need to book in these sort of places well in advance so just looking to get the ball rolling now.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

There used to be some cricketers in Slovenia. It's a lovely country with lovely people and lovely beer - plus Ljubljana is a really nice city.

I actually used to play with one of the aussie blokes on that page, in a previous lifetime.

Holland Baby!!!

Netherlands was on our list re pitches, but we figured was likely to face most of the same weather issues the Uk does in april.

True but most clubs have an artificial pitch/wicket as well. In saying that last year we turned up at Kampong, their grass wicket was water logged and their reserve wicket was laying even lower so was actually underwater.

Will add it to the list though, always much easier to organise a tour somewhere with a local contact for clubs, pitches and most importantly beers!

We done a tour to Malta last year which was fantastically priced and they really did look after us - everything sorted for you apart from flights!

Yep - stay at the Grand Union hotel, drink 'Horny Goat' beer down by the river, and eat massive pizzas by the bridge.

Oh heaven!! wish I was going back!

I've been to plenty of places in Europe - there's a great place in Portugal which would be perfect in April (just got back from the area and it was circa 25C) - PM if interested and I'll pass on the info.

It's a great facility.

Chateau Le Thoirry on the outskirts of Paris is a great venue.

I'd second this, also Standard Club Athletc (I think) near Paris.

I'd also recommend Holland, Brussels and Estonia
