Title: NEW LOOK WEBSITE
Post by: The Cricket Boutique on April 21, 2017, 07:51:00 AM
Hi Gents.

We have made a few changes to our website. If you haven't already, have a look and let us know what you think.

www.thecricketboutique.co.uk (http://www.thecricketboutique.co.uk)

Its best to view it on a desktop as the mobile site is very similar.

Cheers

I like it - straight away I like the look and navigating around it.

I tell you what might interest us nerds on hear - you have a few interesting and little-known brands in your portfolio - perhaps every couple of weeks a little bio of each of them on here might generate a little interest.

For instance, I know nothing of XX, Garrard & Flack, Robert James etc - it may be interesting for the uneducated masses on here!

Have to agree with Fattus, the web site is pretty good. Good sign posting and plenty of opportunity for you to gt pics in front of my eyes quickly is good for you and for me as a browser.

I also agree with him that a "brand of the week" type section might be interesting... especially with some of your less known labels... for example I spotted this..
http://www.thecricketboutique.co.uk/reaper-arc---grade-1-2lb-12-58oz-822-p.asp (http://www.thecricketboutique.co.uk/reaper-arc---grade-1-2lb-12-58oz-822-p.asp)

Its was a bit of a "wtf" moment but being the bat nerd I am I obvs had to click on it. Maybe you could do a deal with the brand owners and have a gain share on the sales depending on the original source of the internet traffic (e.g if you hand off to the them or visa versa)

keep up the good work.

Cheers for the feedback!

We do have a blog with a bit of information about some of the brands/makers but I agree that we dont make people aware of it enough.

Anyone with any other thoughts then please send them over.

Cheers

Given your relationship with some smaller bat makers you would also be in a great position to do trade ins.... ok its a but of a faff but second hand bats definitely have a value (the right bat) and if you can get them cleaned up and looking brand new there would be a "budget" section for your website to fill up and another good opportunity to drive traffic

i like it - pretty clean site.

Can I suggest an improvement in having your menu bar permanently at the top - I'm lazy and hate having to scroll up the page to change the area of the site I am in

Also, automatic 90% discount applied for me only would be nice ;-)

Only 90%. We were going to offer 95!

Thanks for the feedback though.

My main thoughts on TCB is I'm not really sure right now who exactly it appeals to. For us forum guys, we know our brands and makers and likely, unless offered a sweet deal, will go direct. You can't make too much of a living continually offering discounts and there's also a much bigger market outside of here.

I think the dream client could be someone looking for a new bat, but who doesn't know know their makers. For these users, the website may be quite scary for them. Whilst that's based on no data, you can imagine coming to a site it's quite scary when confronted with lots of unknown brands and bats which all look very similar. It's a search-oriented site (like Amazon), for users who know what they're looking for, rather than a story-telling inspire me type site.

I think the site now in terms of how it functions is fine and I think your success so far shows that. It's easy to buy, find a bat and there's not too much distraction. But I really think there's an opportunity to expand it much further with story-telling and inspiring customers over why they should buy JeDI or H4L over the bigger brands at Romida.
