Title: RNS from Facebook
Post by: gmmaestro on April 24, 2017, 11:23:00 AM
Hi guys, out of curiosity I ordered a bat off Mr Whatsapp RNS. It arrived today so I figured I would let you know what happens and what you get.

Every post he says now is VK profile players bats. Don't expect a piece of amazing super sexy willow to arrive, but on first inspection it doesnt look too bad. The grains are decent with a couple of little marks here and there. The press isn't as soft as a Gunn and Moore thats for sure. Handle is thin and a round shape.

The profile we settled on was more of a De Villiers spine to the toe of the bat. It's almost what he said, which i take as a win. What has impressed is that for the size of the stick, it picks up like it is about 2.6!!!

I noted that it is extremely dry willow, oiling tomorrow will be interesting to note the absorbtion.

I asked for the stickers separate so that I could take in the whole stick before I chuck them on. I also took up his offer on a pair of gloves as they were about $30 Aussie dollars, so even if they were close to the test quality he said, its a win. They are comfy enough for training I think, a little small but better than wasting money on gray nics gloves that last me 4 months max and cost $100 plus.

Here are some pics of the delivery. Tomorrow I'll test the ping.

So what is the weight of the bat?

I was looking to get a bat from them as well after seeing their bats on FB. Interestingly, I asked him if I can get a fully knocked and oiled bat as I dont have the time to get it knocked. His response was that they manually knock it in but they dont oil it as a personal preference! Didnt know that it was down to personal preference.

He said it was 2.9 but it may be lighter. I'll knock it in before selling it, just wanted to see what he is about

I've been tracking these for ages and have tried to buy a few that have popped up on FB.... Your review is pretty much what I thought the bat would be like.

I don't suppose you would share what you paid would you? cheers

Most importantly how does it ping? Is it as good as claimed on their FB page?

Ha Ha. Thanks for pointing us in the direction of this page. It appears that they may be pinching quite a bit of text from our website. I think we may be having words.  :D

Not sure of their personal one but it's RNS Larson on Facebook. After asking him to change his text he told me he would see me in court and If I reported the plagerism then he would report my page etc etc.

Seems like a nice legit chap.

I have dealt with Harjit (RNS Facebook) once when I bought a bat a couple of years ago. Horrible customer service, plank bat, never returned the money for undelivered pads and gloves. Sorry TCB for your experience.

Just curious...are you saying that the text used to describe bats posted on their FB page is the same that you use to describe bats on your site? The description on the RNS page seems quite generic tbh.

Its just on a couple of posts (on Facebook). He has changed it very slightly after we had a chat. Here is what he put:

ALL OUR BATS ARE 100% ENGLISH WILLOW ,100% HANDMADE,100% PERFORMANCE ORIENTED and 100% QUALITY Guranteed
All the Cricket Bats I Post here are hand crafted and pressed to perfection so we can GUARANTEE that what you will receive will be of the best possible quality at the best price possible.

This is just basically text taken off our website which is supposedly a coincidence as he has never been on our site.

Its not a massive issue its just more a matter of principal.

I got a really great RNS LARSON from www.crickstore.com (http://www.crickstore.com)
the guy there called Yogesh was very very helpful and the bat arrived in two days.  Unfortunately the bat was to heavy for me, but it had a fantastic middle

Yogest rang me from India four times to make sure I was happy before he sent the bat. I was look at a cheap BDM on their website which could be a future net bat

I got a bargain of a deal for one of these bats. One of my mates bought it and didn't feel any connection so he sold me for half of what he paid. It feels great and middle is very good. I have oiled it twice and start to knock and within 15 minutes, it started to respond.

Crickstore chaps are nice guys. Yogesh operates from India while Aniket operates from San Diego. Have dealt with both of them and very nice chaps.

My guess is that these guys picked up these bats from RNS factory in person. Most of the times RNS folks end up with bait & switch leaving the end user pretty pissed off.

I have got one bat myself and I have got a couple for my mates in the past. The bats are nice. The only problem is that they absorb moisture too quickly since the wood is very dry. I suggest buying at least a couple of oz lighter bat than what you need since after oiling, applying a scuff sheet (and it absorbing moisture naturally), it will end up being heavier than it arrives. it is true that a lot of Indian pros (Kohli, Jadeja, Ashwin, Dhoni, Pandeya etc.) use his bats and past pros were also quite fond of their bats.

What has been said about their customer service is true - Harjeet isn't very keen on following up. They sell bulk volumes everyday and they don't have enough time for individual customer. Having said that, the price for which they sell their bats is almost unbeatable for the quality.

I received my first RNS bat about 3 weeks ago and what a bat.
I looked on their Facebook and contacted the guy and he offered me one that was already advertised on Facebook.
As it was cheap I couldn't say no and ordered it and received in UK in a week.
Amazing bat pings very good ball hits the ceiling almost every time.
Can't wait to play with it and smash few runs.

Bumping this up!

Has anyone else delved into the RNS Facebook bats recently? Some of the recent profiles/prices have certainly made it tempting... general consensus seems they are over dried with occasional reports of horrible middles/cracking toes...

he definitely seems an interesting bloke...i questioned him about whether the bats were seconds and about the claims they were over dried to achieve the weights/profiles and his reply was pretty much:

"All first bats some have purchased 20 only buy if ur confident see how fast they sell"

There definitely seems to be a big demand looking at the bidding on the bats...the 'Dhoni' profile looks alright, although he doesnt mention the weight.

True...I follow the bids regularly and the demand is crazy! I guess most are from Aus and USA.

When it comes to the brand, RNS Larsons have been known to make really good bats since years. Not sure if the quality is still the same. The bats do look nice. I might get myself one of those Ultra profile bats. Any views on how practical they are? If I not mistaken, that bat shape is based on one of the L&W bats...think it was called Ultra too.

I must agree with @mo_town! Ultra shape does look nice and all but they are very dry bats. I bought one in 2017 and wasn’t very impressed with the quality of their bats.

they've thrown up a few apparently player profiles the past day or so...

Tendulkar /AB de Villiers / Dhoni

Yep...given the fact that they do make bats for international players it could be accurate, but I wonder if they are allowed to mention the names of the players. Surely the brands sponsoring the players would take offence, isnt it?

could be why they refer to them as "AB" / "MS" / "MASTER"

for the sake of $200USD im pretty certain ill get in on one of them at some point to see what the deal is...

I've been watching them for a weeek or so now...majority of them sell for between $150-$200USD with shipping worldwide included...but a handful of really clean bats have sold for more yes :)

I agree that lot of bats have been sold between usd 150 to 200 recently. Just a few between usd 240 to 280 for good looking clean bats where he mentioned 'pro grade'.

nothing has really grabbed my attention...i sitill pop my head in and have a look a couple times a day...but its really hard to judge what they'll go for...some horrible low grab sticks have sold for more than the low density "players" options

Must say this auction approach is great. Wonder why other makers dont do the same.

From what I heard the auction bats are over dried they perform great from the start but don’t last very long, one of my teammates only got 5-6 games out of it not even 500 runs and split into two pieces

Interesting...did he oil and knock it in before using or believed in the manually hammered, ready to go theory of RNS? when I had chatted with the guy, he said that they manully hammer it and the bats are ready to go.

I bought one of the Jadeja profile from them. I must have oiled it 2-3 times and knocked it using LV mallet for good 4-5 hours. Despite all the preparations, my toe cracked during my first throw down session. I won’t buy RNS again.
