I'm talking 1 or 2 bats pads and gloves,
What would people go for? I'm bored at work and we were on about what 5 car garage we'd have if it were possible and spending 5mil and it got me thinking what cricket kit could you get for 500 quid.
I know this takes out top top end stuff but as I'm a fan of the gm 808 range this year it got me wondering what others would choose
For me it's be a chrome, mana and 808 softs I think

I am a huge fan of the new Blaze range from Kookaburra so on Pro Direct Cricket you can get the following:
Kookaburra Blaze 1500 bat- £340
Kookaburra Blaze 900 gloves- £40
Kookaburra Blaze Pro pads- £97.80
Total= £477.80 (however if you wanted to change the Pro pads for the 900 pads the total would be £435.30 so you could get some Aero P1 strippers or matching Kookaburra pro thigh pads inside the budget).

Box - £3, not too arsed what it is
Leaving me £223.50 for bat/s, so I'd probably have an Aldred butterfly at £175, leaving me £48.50 to buy a bag to put it all in. A bundle deal might get better value but that's a tidy set of kit, although I think my first choice everything cost me £380 and is either the same spec or better!

Blank bats bat £230 ish
Adidas softs (mine are exceptional) pads £90, gloves £60
SG thigh pad set £22
Box £5
Bag £30
Shoes that work for you £65
Lid takes you over, but £45 for a Masuri or a GM lid

certainly more out there than i had anticipated, i had checked again and actually went for:
gm chrome 808
gm mana 808
gm 808 pads
gm 808 gloves
bottle green clads (midweek stuff)
that came to about 480
i have a lid, p2s, bag etc already
really impressed with the various options and seriously tempting me to start again for the upcoming season!!

Add £15 to the budget and get a GM QdK Players bat From @Vitas Cricket, and bat without pads and gloves. :D
Jokes aside, I have a fair few sets of bats I would buy, but would only consider one set of softs, purely from a VFM perspective:
Bats:
H4L G2 and DVL - £330 approx - Highly rate H4L, still using my G2 Warbird despite having so many other bats. Not my best performing one from them, but just felt perfect in the hands. :)
2 GM 808s - £360 approx - IMO, one of the best value for money G2 bats. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more enticing the offering seems. From testing pick ups, I feel that the Mana, Chrome and Kaha are standouts from the range. I'd probably go for Chrome and Mana, like OP. I can handle the slight drop in blade length of the Mana, but unsure about the Kaha! Could be swayed by a nice Neon too...
If I were to splash solely on one bat, it would possibly be a Laver Reserve or a TK.
Pads:
B&S batting pads and gloves - £110 - Exceptional value for money in today's market. I would pick these top of the range pads almost all the time. I value my legs and hands, so want only top level protection, and for £110, very well priced.
If you were to include a helmet and box and thighpads, I'd probably change the GMs to 606 grade and spend the rest on an Ayrtek and some P2s. Should be around 230 for bats, 110 for pads and gloves and 160 for lid and thighguards. :)

Well , considering i just bought 2 xp80 1500's for $565au each , I'd say one of them , a pair of morrants ultralite international pads for about $230au , and a pair of bas players gloves for about $55au . Enough change for an aero standup wheelie bag and a few tidbits .
