Title: SS Ton plain grade 1 review
Post by: procricket on January 30, 2010, 11:31:33 PM
SPEC

Plain
2lb 6oz without grip
9 straight grains

Got this bat as my net bat but after netting with it i thinking otherwise now
i got the bat and first thing that impressed me was the size of the bat for the weight very impressive so much so i took it to a leading batmaker in England to have a look at.

He was very impressed less so because i didn't get him to make me 1 but he asked how much i had paid for it and he agreed for the price i wouldn't get anywhere near the quality in england for a made bat.

overall it has a great pick-up and it plays well might challenge my Laver Pb for top dog this year.

i will post pictures in the morning

Sounds good fella some pictures would be nice and to be fair all the Indian and pakistani bats that are towards the top of the range that i have seen so far do seem to be super value for money.
I have a friend who has a top of the range SG coming from Inida next week so i will let you know what its like

Thats a lot of wood for 2.6 - many batmakers are not overly fond of making bats at this weight as it is diificult to make a big shape - but SS are getting a reputation of making some very fine bats - I'd love to know the moisture content of that bat to see if it has been dried to it's limits or whether it's just an exceptionally light cleft in the first place.

Regardless, great bat and again good service from asad by the sounds of it!

We have just received some more Plain bats from SS so if any one require one, plz email me what weight u require.
we have 2-3 more shipments coming from SS as well as BAS.
As usuall our guarantee on these products.
Just remember buying from an individual, u may be able to save few pounds but there is no after sale customer service

It's also good to know that you are purchasing these bats through the correct channels - people offering these bats slightly cheaper will very often not be officical stockists and very often get the domestic grade quality bats - just not worth the risk. Keep up the good work Asad!

Sillyshilly not sure if your foot is in your mouth after eating humble pie...

VKS and the Incredible Cricket Company are the only 2 English stockists on the SS site.

Foot and mouth - thats a bovine disease, not a pie :)
Thanks for the extra serving though Andy - one can never have enough humble pie!!!

Well - next time i'll keep my big gob shut!

For ur info, we have also bought bats from Incredible cricket company as well getting direct from SS factory. I always handpick my bats and that's where we are different from other stockists. Incredible Cricket company only sell to traders not to individuals.
All our bats are export quality

This bat here Asad, is this export quality do you know? $225USD for a bat direct from the manufacturer is a bargain.

sorry Sir,

No need to be a smart ass Asad when you STATE all SS bats are fitted with your suggested handle description. Misleading members/buyers is Illegal under the Trade Descriptions Act.

This is my advertised section and I was only referring to the bats i have.
i was only asking for u to correct me and i did correct my post.
Have I mislead any one on the forum?  if that is true then u need to correct all the posts on the forum.
Don't try to teach me trade Description Act, i have been in business long enough to know that.

No need to rant and rave at me , your partners will also not be happy with your slight of hand/turn of phrase. You could own the forum for all I like , just do not mislead members/buyers/viewers on you products.

Lekka, chill. He didn't mislead buyers/members/viewers on his products, he said they have semi-oval handles and if they do then that's hardly misleading people.

Asad stated that ALL SS bats have the suggested shaped handles , that is misleading. Why are you guys so short on the truth ?

Can't you get over the fact you mis-interpreted what he said as it was initially not 100% clear and was quite ambiguous. You've picked him up on it, he's changed it so get over it.

If it was changed , why did you back it in the previous post ? You cannot have it both ways Tom.
Title: Re: SS Ton plain grade 1 review

I back it because the intention on his initial post was not to mislead, he was commenting on his own products. However as someone didn't quite understand that this was the AS Section, the post was by the AS owner and the first post was regarding a bat bought at AS Sports he cleared it up and changed it for their benefit.

Asad sells more brands than the mentioned one , maybe just leave Asad answer the question as it was he that scripted it.

I have read your OP and have asked myself why you would take it to a leading batmaker in England that you know ?  Do you not wish to support the batmakers that work within The Empire ? We have some great batmakers here in the UK , try and support these guys.

Lekka go and get a life instead of being bitter and twisted i sorry but your being a price fool and i have already got many  bats of this other batmaker but to be fair instead of reproducing other peoples work maybe you should work on your manners instead of trying to be some sort of enforcer.

get this it my money and i will spend it any way i like but rest assured none will be coming your way.

i have not got time to get into this discussion, which is not going to provide any benefit to any Forum member.
Lekka, iit will be more benefiticial to the Forum members if u provide some useful info rather than getting into stupid discussions.
Someone mentioned that you got banned on this forum so how comes Leo is letting u post with a new name.

Gentlemen, just reading the thread of this forum, it looks like Asad had stated something which may not have been 100% technically correct, and when this was pointed out to him, he immediately clarified what he had meant to say and made the appropriate correction to his statement  He has recognised that his statement could have been misleading, and has apologised.  We all know that we have many international members on this forum whose first language may not be English.  We should be a little patient and tolerant of this.  If you wish to clarify any comment, please feel free to do so.  But this does not look like a case where someone has intentionally misled the forum members.  So let's close the matter and move on.

Please can forums just ban Lekka? He is a pain in the (No Swearing Please) and i stand corrected if anyone can argues that he brings anything to these forums, except some ad revenue from other forums. He doesnt appear to have any great insight into the technicalities of bat making and simply nit picks to detract other manufacturers and or sales agents. I can only guess he thinks this will attract more business to his second rate goods.

Irritant to what otherwise is a top rate forum.

Your statement at the end of that sentence might be/ is right based on your views but I know who makes his bats in the UK and they are not second rate....

Yes Hopefully the Lekka grips live up to their reputation! Ive just bought one!

Yep the combi grip is great and the spiral xtrax grip is good as well....

But like people are saying enough of filling up Asads' section with this type of talk.

quick update on the said bat going well had the ton on sides and back removed fully removed.

now has chase 175 finback logos going well is the bat had a little split near the toe had it refurbished but all in all a very good bat still maybe a touch light for me and i use 2lb 6oz as a norm but power to amount of wood performes as well as any of my other bats

all in all a very good bat which is serving me well not quite in the laver league but for the money not bad at all.

if somebody could put the pictures up i would be greatful

must add asad was a pleasure to deal with and sorted out the problem with the toe(miss hit) very well and got the bat fixed in no time
