Title: Tendulkar's bat
Post by: i12breakfree on May 22, 2017, 12:40:25 PM
These pics are of tendulkar's bat that he owned during last 2-3 years of his international career
These pics are like one to die for (atleast for me)

Weight 2-12 with one grip. Its amazing how the master blaster used such heavy bats and even heavier earlier in his career against the fast blowers.

ENjoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Thanks to Mr Surinder from RS for giving these pics. They use this as a template to make tendulkar shaped bats. I have got couple of SRT shaped bats from RS and those have been top top quality.
I am sure this post will make your Monday much better ;)

I still cannot understand why Tendulkar used such low middle bat given that he is short and would be middling the ball higher even on front foot drives. Also, he is so strong off the back foot where obviously the ball meets the bat higher..

Going back a few years, a Newbery Samurai was a similar shape.

Sounds like you know better than Sachin does.

Or maybe he is just curious to know how Sachin use it with such mastery.

Probably so successful because he found something comfortable to him, got used to it over years and years with only the weight ever changing and even that not hugely, and stuck to the one shape rather than chop and changing, it's not all about where the middle is, it's all about what feels comfortable and works for you out in the middle

Some batsman, but what an ugly bat shape that is, to my eye anyway.

It might have something to do with hard work and being talented, no bat scores runs on its own but I get your point.

Sorry mate if i offended you...I was only trying to understand the logic for something, neither claimed I knew it nor know more than the master...

Exactly..trying to understand only what seems to be a paradox (and which is what makes it a fascinating)..no claims made here on self knowledge or mastery..

I was always amazed at ST! He is 5'5 or 5'6 or whatever his height is and used to use a 3lb+ brilliantly and against 90mph bowling! I know he had to come down in weight due to his elbow so 2'12 is his "light" feather like bat  :(
I am 6'3 and 17 stone and yet I would only just be comfortable using his light bat!! I feel so inadequate!!  :o

Looks wonderful. No matter what grade that bat was, he had the talent as Dave mentioned.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the reason he used such a heavy bat throughout his career was because he used to borrow his older brothers bat growing up and he adjusted to it.

Precisely.

That is correct about him having to use his older brother Ajit's, bat. He talked about that in 'Walk the Talk' on NDTV. Can easily be found on YT. It was a Long Handle bat.

I think he also got used to a certain grip (bottom-hand dominated) because of him having to use a heavy bat in his youth.

If you feel bad about being able to use "only" upto 2-12 bat, then what to say of folks like me who struggle with anything over 2-8.. :D
