This was my captains old bat. When it split he gave it to our no. 11. I didn't know the bat pre-crack but the bat is a bit of a plank. It's a woodworm the globe.
The crack goes right round the spine I don't know if the 2 pieces were ever completely separated or if it is just a deep crack. It appears to have been stuck with a rubber based glue.
Has anyone else seen a split like this? Comments welcome

Not sure if it the same, but one of my teammates had the back off his back fall off after he kept it in the airing cupboard over winter.

Thanks. There are similarities. I will ask him. Seems an unusual type of break considering the forces on a bat. Just out of interest. How did the removal of the spine affect the bat's performance?

No idea on performance. I believe he sent it back to the supplier and they replaced with no questions asked ;)

The only time I've seen similar damage was on a bat with a thin steep spine and the willow was dry
