Being an extremely tight northerner, it's not often I say bargain, but if they are as good as the one you have, then yes they are a right bargain

I think it was £54, but that's when the bat was £160

How good is it? Is that the exact one you have? What weight did you buy and how does it go?

I can only judge on the one I have, which is very good, I might have just been lucky, but I am VERY happy with it, I am even considering selling my Laver.  I spent 10 minutes knocking it in before I used it in the nets. the bat was perfect for me. thin handle, good pick up and a big middle.

I purchased another 2 (1 for me and 1 for my mate), and I am still thinking I might get a larger one and chop the bottom inch off it, for £95

I was in GCCC today and they had a couple of top end XP80s on sale. $600Aud (360gbp?) One was 2.10 and the other 2.11.

Which XP-80 are you getting? 2000?

It'd be interesting to hear your views about the toe and the driving full-balls with that bat. I am struggling there!

I want a high-spine bat like an XP-80 but with a thick toe!

I think I would shatter the toe on that bat here in the UK.

I would wince every time I went on the front foot!

Let me just say that I've seen no issue with stopping yorkers and driving with an XP80. Hit some huge drives for six in the mid-on through mid-off region with no issues at all, and the toe is fine on the yorkers.

This forum obsession with toe thickness is nuts. The XP80s toe is plenty thick enough.

Our pitches are astro-turf and ball comes up nicely. XP80 is perfect for good-length and short balls. Yorkers and full balls are another matter. I am just not getting the kind of response to fuller/yorker type deliveries that I used to get from my previous (retired) match bat. Don't get me wrong, my XP80 is not fully "prepared" in the middle and the response is outstanding but the toe region, and 3 inches above it, is showing no sign of life. Maybe I need to whack it with a mallet.

Isn't Velocity XL is the same bat as XP-80 but an improved/thicker toe?

1500 but just happy to get one at the mo!

If it's as good as I suspect it will be, I may have it copied with a little more thickness left in the toe! That is the best thing about being on this forum....there are a number of people on here who have the skills and expertise to copy and slightly modify a bat!  :D But early days on that one yet. Need to see how I get on with the bat first!

I was at kingsgrove today , saw those lower grade xp70s .... wasn't impressed . Not the same 'extended middle' profile as the 1200 version .

^ If you know a bat maker who can replicate an 80mm+ spine on a bat, let me know. :) As far as I can tell, only GN has that kind of willow and those are getting rare to find by the day.

Interesting pic online  xp70 face with an xp80 back ????   , would do some homework before you jump in , made in india or melbourne ???.   Atomics & velocity being made right now , look for lighter weights & slightly different handles
