I ordered this one from your earlier post. Lets see how it compares to my Elviers LV mallet.
-
I have an oak Hercules and it's been very good.
-
I have an Oak and LV mallet from Les. Nice chap very easy to deal with. Both excellent mallets. The LV isn't cheap but you get what you pay for and if money is no object go for the LV over Oak.

Well obviously I have. Accept no substitute. Which is easy as Les is the only person in the world making LV Cricket Bat Mallets. They are just so hard that they indent anything other than LV and hard steel.
I spoke to Les at length on Saturday and we all have Taimoor from Blank Bats to thank for the LV Cricket Bat Mallet as he approached Les five years ago to design número uno.

which shape do you have of each?
I like the look of the ULYSSES or HERCULES myself

No they look wonderful and the craftsman ship looks second to none.
I am just trying to decide which one to get lol
any recommendations?

I went the Hercules, arrived 2 weeks back. Gives you both options, a flatter side and a more rounder side,
I got mine in LV with an oak Handle in 10 inch, Drop Les an email, very easy to deal with and offers up great suggestions depending on what you want your mallet for
what i mean by that is, Les explained the purpose of each mallet to me and who they appealed to

Have you used it? How does it compare to LV? Those LVs are too expensive.
-
I got my brother to get me and LV Hercules for my birthday, haven't really had my moneys worth out of it yet but it's a work of art, likely to last a lifetime (or longer) and makes knocking in much easier.
-
I love my LV mallet
Twas a bit of a bargain at £30 too!

What shape? I genuinely have no idea!
I bought it from eBay, and the seller got rid of it "because it was starting to crack". It's made of wood and is used to repeatedly hit something, of course it will crack!

[/quotes hey crack because of the moisture loss, pretty unavoidable even with storage somewhere sensible
and the odd oiling.
-
They have lots of different shapes and handle lengths
Have a look on their website they are all on there they look great
-
For those who have one - what are the Oak Mallets like ? I know they wont be as good as a LV one but budget would dictate this time round
-
The Oak ones are fine and will do a great job knocking in a bat. The LV ones just reduce the time taken to knock a bat in. I really don't use the Oak one much anymore.
-
I don't suppose it might be for sale @JTtaylor145 ?
-
@velvetsky01 send me a PM buddy.

I just recieved this Sheesham Mallet. It is 570 grams. I would say not better than my 700 gram LV Hercules but better than GN deluxe mallet. Sheesham mallet is good for edges and toe before thr big gun LV .
-
ah that's good to know for the price they look good I must say - hopefully my mallet I purchased from @JTtaylor145 should arrived today so I will be able to give a small review then
-
Somebody could rent out their mallet....little earner on the side perhaps
-
Are the LV mallets readily available? Can you get them shipped right away or they need to be made?

Les doesn't keep stock items and makes them when required. Usually takes 2-3 weeks depending how busy he is.
Sometimes he has a mallet in that he's taken in as part ex.
Give him a ring, he's a very helpful and always loves a chin wag
