Title: Sunday 2nd July - York
Post by: Lumsden on June 29, 2017, 09:57:29 PM
Got an email tonight asking if I fancied a game this Sunday in York. My usual Sunday side over in Leeds has a free week so I have agreed to play and they need a couple more.

The match is at one of the best grounds in the Y&DSCL with the start being 1.30pm (will confirm) and there are no match fees for guest players.  Weather forecast is good for Sunday.

Send us a PM if interested.

The address of the ground is: 31 Shipton Rd, York YO30 5RE but there was quite a bit of interest locally so I think the team now has 11.

And it looks over York CC as well. So if there is a game there, plenty to watch.

There was indeed a match going on but I didn't initially realise as from a distance it just looked a few people having a net. However on doing a stint of umpiring (which lasted 30 overs !!!) it then became apparent that they were wearing T20 style kit. The match also seemed to attract a decent crowd too.

It was the Premier Cup competition. A 50 over game, coloured clothing, York vs Stamford Bridge with some big names on either side.

York posted 270 and had Stamford Bridge at 120-5, before Dom Rhodes and Ryan McKendry put 150 on in 11 overs to win the game for Stamford Bridge.
