Title: GM 808 pads
Post by: AaronW95 on June 30, 2017, 02:13:50 PM
Hello, just a quick question about the GM 808 2017 pads

I am currently playing in on of the ecb premier leagues so a high standard for amateur cricket, is the protection on these odd going to be adequate for this standard or would it be advisable to spend the extra £30 on the higher up models. I have received mix comments about them from people at the club I'm at. I bat 6/7 so don't usually have long to bat during games or face the opening bowlers.

Do you think these will do the job. Cheers

I knew somebody who played Birmingham Prem and 1st grade cricket in Australia who was an opening batsman who used the 808 versions.

You'll be fine

I think most of the pads will offer adequate protection.  Just the higher end models will use more premium materials and are often slightly lighter in weight.

I will 2nd the Test Opener pads.  Best pads I've used. Only got rid as they were Indian men's size and were slightly too small for me!

Cheers mate, will go for them then. Know a few friends from Birmingham prem so know it's up there with best in uk for "amateur" cricket. Hard to say amateur when berkswell have 3 pros bowling as first 3 bowlers 😂😂

Just left my old team to a new one beginning of season, play in the Yorkshire league. We've had our league restructured from just ECB Yorkshire league to ecb Yorkshire south and ecb Yorkshire north. Play for one of the middle teams in the league

Had a lad who was at Durham uni play for us last year who played his 'home' cricket at wimbledon. Very explosive batsmen who played the short format well

Not sure on any of the London standards I would expect them to be high, most say the Bradford,Birmingham, Cornwall leagues are the most competitive

Not going to say who tho, in the Huddersfield drakes league and they pay 11 of the first team and 7 of the second team,
