Morning all
Last Thursday I dislocated the little finger on my right hand. It was only the end joint, with my fingertip facing the wrong way.
Being the imbecile I am, I popped it back in and continued playing.
Fast forward nearly a week and I've still got it buddy strapped to my ring finger. It's still slightly swollen and the end joint has limited movement. It's still rather sore and makes me jump if I knock it.
Has anyone else done similar? What is the rough recovery time for a dislocated finger, and will it work "normally" again?
Cheers

6 weeks.
You should go to A&E.

Hospital time

As my Dad would have said in such circumstances when I was younger.... let me have a look how bad it is.....I'll get the saw.

Get it checked. Biggest concern with popping it back yourself trapping nerves, etc. I did the same to my thumb, popped it back in while fielding, went to A&E that evening. Best to be sure!

Dislocated the end of my little finger last season in the pre match warm up, went straight to hospital to have it popped back into position. Then returned back to the game to see the end of our innings, had tea then went out to field.
I was back playing the week after however kept it strapped up for the first few games when fielding, it was tender for a good few weeks afterwards.

Perfect, cheers.
I popped it back in and carried on bowling!
Played a couple of games since with it strapped, batting is a bit sore, bowling is fine and I'm being hidden in the field to avoid making it worse.
Strap it and have a dose of Man-Up before each game it is. There's no way I'm risking losing my place in the side for our Cup Final because of my little finger!

Could be some tendon damage in the end knuckle.
Most probably all they will do at a&e is put a single half finger splint on that will allow it to knit back into a regular 'straight' position.

Popped by ring finger late last year out deep, swelled up like a balloon, went to A&E and they popped it back in. Still feels a bit painful every now and then but have to live with it.
-
@WalkingWicket37 you need to keep it as straight as possible in a strap, occasionally do finger stretches a few times a day, it takes time, mine was 6-8 weeks, the nurse said 'i know you cricket boys will still play, just be carefull'
-
Being such an incompetent fielder I think I must have done this half a dozen times over a few decades and every time I popped it straight back in while high on adrenalin. Not sure it's the right thing to do but I'd imagine it's easier to do this if you grit your teeth before swelling sets in. I'll probably have crippling arthritis when I get (even) older. I don't think I ever missed a game because of this, though had to hide a bit in the field, except for the one time the bone came through the skin, eurrgh :( - that took several weeks to recover.

Dislocated my forefinger at the first joint the ball hit the tip of my finger after a short while the pain went i carried on playing but from the joint to the tip it flopped around so at the end of the season I went to AE they put in strapping for 6 weeks to keep it still

Best to get it checked. My dislocation ended up being a small fracture as well (despite no pain)... I was told to take it easy for 4-6 weeks if I wanted to avoid surgery

oooph I feel a bit sick reading this thread. Ive broken fingers doing judo but for me a dislocation seems so much worse! A lad at the school I work at dislocated his knee and waited on the ground for over an hour for an ambulance to get him.

Get it checked. No ifs and buts!

Get it checked Cam
All this manning up thing is just bs
It needs an X-ray at least

Did it to the same finger 2 weeks before footy season started, but the 2nd joint. it was bent sideways, Popped it back in and carried on game. Went to hospital after and scan showed it hadn't been put back in right so they had to have 3 attempts themselves. 3 months on, still sore as hell when it gets hit as I'm a keeper, and very very limited movement of the joint. So if say it's gonna always be a problem and painful, but not enough to hinder you. Should have gone to AnE by sounds of it though and got checked and sorted properly

Best to get it checked, I dislocated my little finger on my right hand over the winter. I let one of the lads pop it back in and thought nothing of it. Since its not regained any flexibility and faces the wrong direction. I'll defiantly be getting it sorted after the season has finished.

Defo get to A&E. I'm sure you can still play in the cup final, but these things have a habit of coming back to haunt you if not properly treated. Nobody on here will tell your skipper! ;)
