Title: Replacing Remfry Straps
Post by: Coach on July 27, 2017, 12:36:04 PM
Has anyone had any experience with replacing thigh pad straps? My trusty Remfry straps have frayed and aren't holding as well as before. Being of the "Fix It Yourself" mentality I'm reaching out to the forum for advice if anyone has replaced their own thigh pad straps. Thanks in advance!

Mate go to the local tailoring shop get some white Velcro strapping and ask the to tailor them if they have the facilities.

otherwise go via the shop then find a tailoring shop who do hand stitch mate.

I didn't with my remfry but with my ACE ones I had them tailored the same way mate.

You could use sticky velcro and use stretton fox straps.

I was thinking this . Tailoring also a good way to go .

Apologies for reviving this extremely old thread, but there was no update, and I figured it might be useful for anyone wanting to do this...

I picked up a cheap(ish) second hand pair of Remfrys, and the straps were pretty mouldy. Figured it wouldn't be much work to replace them, although finding the right material was hard - I couldn't find anyone that sold straps of the right width that were elasticated AND made of velcro loop. So I ended up getting it from here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01HBDVJNK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01HBDVJNK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1)

After a mix up with sending me black rather than white, I got some 50 and 38 mm (sent out without extra charge!) that were a perfect match. Our sewing machine needles couldn't cope with going through so much stuff, so I sewed them on by hand. Not difficult, but ended up having to use pliers to pull the needle through (which also ended up bent).

An after photo. They really don't look that different or fit any better, but they do smell slightly better!

Good effort, regret selling mine now but no complaints about my Strettons that replaced them.

I’ve got stock of SF strap sets if anyone is after a set.

I was actually THIS close to ordering SF straps from you and using those! But I wanted to try a like for like first.

Not sure these are any comfier than my SFs at the moment, but maybe after I have used them more.
