Title: GN Prestige/ general kit
Post by: mohawks94 on July 30, 2017, 04:28:48 PM
Hi all,

I am looking to upgrade/change my kit for next season and am looking at the Prestige range as I really like the classical look.

My current plan is Prestige pads, a pair of Prestige gloves, a pair of Legend gloves and a Players bat. If anyone has used any of these, what do you reckon?

I have my eye on an F18 Players on eBay, has anyone used this range of bat before?

I would also cobble together the rest of my kit with GN stuff so any opinions on bags, thigh pads etc much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I have Legend pads - just superb twisted fit that mounds perfectly
Prestige + Legend gloves + predator 1000 gloves both excellent gloves just feel the legend should be pittard
GN XP70 and Ultimate (Uk made) bats again very very good.

Basically can't fault GN kit in anyway

Legend pads were very nice but sizing was a touch small I found. My knee didn't sit in the knee locator as it was meant to. Other than that the for and comfort were unreal, as Chris said the twist was lovely once you got used to it. The teammate I sold them to seems pleased with them.

Prestige gloves are lovely, im a big fan. They're a lovely fit and are flexible enough out the packet for sausage fingers.

Legend gloves I'm not a huge fan of! I found them rather stiff for split fingers and there's nothing about them makes me think "wow, these are worth £90". I'd personally get two pairs of prestige and not bother with the legend gloves.

lovely kit didn't like the twist in the pads I prefer more straight lines in my canes and bin hat-but agree top materials used.

Very good gloves the prestige.

Have the prestige players bat lovely feel  and sound when the ball rebounds of it straight close grains clean willow some say prestige is a legend bat at a lower grade due to the willows higher density.

I broke my thumb in a pair of prestige gloves. So sold them to @WalkingWicket37

I'll let him tell you what body part he broke wearing them... ......

My match bat this season is a f18. It's a great bat, love that it has no concaving and still  has a good pick up. Having one of my best seasons using it. I highly recommend one.

I had an F18 bat - lower grade but had lots of wood in the sweet spot, decent middle and great response, especially considering the lower grade of willow!
As was said before, pickup is excellent considering there is no concaving!!

I've found that cricket direct have an f18 LE in stock so will look that way as apparently it is light.

@DorsetDan what weight and grade are your maverick? I like a light bat (2.9 max)

Got the legend pads and agree that GN pads are on the smaller end of the sizing; comfort wise, rate them. Great protection yet still light enough. I must have long legs mind, as I'm only 5ft 10 and I'm on the upper end of the knee-locater.

I've got the Legend gloves and the Prestige gloves; only got Legend gloves when Prestiges were hard to find... and in all honesty I'd not bother. For me the Prestige gloves do the job, are more comfortable, and as previously mentioned, flexible straight up. I normally change my gear before I wear it out, yet these gloves are getting worn out and I'm getting more each time!

Not tried a bat, but the rest of the gear is quality! :)

A bit heavy for me I'm afraid Dan. Looks lovely though.

Just stumbled across an online clearance by Hunts so snaffled a 15 grain 2lb8 beauty. Looks like that, an f18 plus prestige softs will be me sorted for a while!

May be a bit late, but I've been using the Legend gloves this season - lovely, lovely gloves, until the palms completely fell apart half way through the season!! Nice enough but wouldn't spend that much on them again.

I've gone with Prestige pads and two sets of Prestige gloves. Ended up getting a legend duffle as I wanted to have separate bat sections and am not too keen on the supernova.

Havent got a GN bat yet, will get either a Players or the F18 in end of season sales. Main issue now is being ocd about matching kit - my spikes are the wrong colour now!

Confession: when I was at Romida in Hemel picking up grips and a new sidearm yesterday, there was a very tasty Predator 3 LE in my weight. The guy who works there told me that their sale starts in two weeks, so I think I may pop back for that. If it's gone the F18 is the one.

@mohawks94 couldn't you have asked him nicely to put it to one side for you?
I've found most retailers are usually happy to do this

I was just having a general try with several different brands, only when I got home I realised quite how well it picked up and how good it felt. Bit of a "for goodness sakes" moment on my part!
