Title: Alternative Toe Guard
Post by: jimmy23 on August 01, 2017, 08:44:53 AM
Just looking at an alternative to a regular toe guard.
I have seen shoe goo mentioned before but what about sheets of rubber that can be cut to size like the eBay link below?
The toe guard on my B3 is a lot thinner than a regular one.

Would it work and what would be the minimum thickness i could get away with?

Just get shoo goo or another toe guard put on . If not , use yacht varnish . Dont bother with those rubber sheets .

Ronseal yacht finish is excellent for stopping moisture  getting into the toe of the bat

I'd be concerned it would rip/wear out too quickly. Why do you want really thin?

I'm in Australia, but Topy is an international company so you should be able to get these:

I used these successfully last year and have got another set. Harder and much better wearing than toe guards, so work out about a third of the cost.

Not quite what im looking for.
I'm talking a traditional toe guard not that.

I've ordered a sheet of the rubber 3mm thickness in white and a regular toe guard. Got a couple of bats to try it on so will see how it works out.

Does this dry clear if you were to do the toe and a cm or so up the face/ edge/ back as well?

Yes  if you use Ronseal crystal clear vanish  it will leave the bat with a  clear   Finish on the toe  face and back but if your bats not clean the  clear varnish highlights the marks.
