Title: Asics GEL ODI- Black and White
Post by: JamieNow42 on August 16, 2017, 08:16:01 PM
Hi Guys,

Was wondering if any of the retailers on here have these available in a UK Size 10, if not does anyone know the cheapest place in the UK where they will be available.

They don't exist in the UK range.

Asics are leaving the cricket market (in UK/Europe at least) in 2018.

Very interesting. They seemed the market leader for quite some time?

If true, that's really sad..they make the best cricket shoes imo..

Can't beat a spiked up trainer in my opinion.

Do you know why they're leaving Jake?

Presumably don't feel cricket is a big enough or important enough market for them. They've always seemed disinterested to me, and regularly move the goalposts in terms of what retailers need to do just to have an account, to the point where in the past it has genuinely felt like they would rather not have our order/money

Seems as if the shoe choice next year will be a bit limited.

According to Jake, the pros are raving about next years NB offering.

I have the SL22 from last year and they are a great spike. Well, for me anyway!

I made the switch to New Balance after using Adidas spikes for around 6 years and I don't regret it at all. I started the season in the Adidas Vectors which is a spike I had been using for around 2 and a half years but then switched into the New Balance CK10 NA and they offered superb levels of comfort, from what I've seen next years New Balance offering looks like a massive upgrade so that will be my choice for next season

Ive recently purchased a pair of Payntr spikes, they are fairly comfy (not the most comfortable shoe i have ever worn) and they get marked very easily and one of the threads has cut loose after i was hit on the toe (at around 60mph) Vitas have some Gel Advance 6's on offer at the moment, I dont know whether to purchase.

This is bad news as I was hoping these would be in next year's range, looks like it might have to be the new NBs then.

I emailed them about cricket shoes availability for 2018. This is their reply. Looks like they might have some models though. Nevertheless, from Jake's comment and their response, seems like it is not far off when they completely exit..

Hello,

Thank you for your email and interest in our ASICS Cricket collection,

In terms of availability of our cricket collection next year, there will be some models still sold in the upcoming season. However, we do not have full availability of that at present.

At ASICS we are always listening to our consumers and where possible we always aim to improve. Your request is no different and thanks to your feedback, the possibility of this item becoming available in the future are increased.

We thank you for your understanding and hope you have a great day!

The final collection that UK retailers can order from is called spring summer 2018 and will arrive in the uk pre season. The models are identical to the current UK range.

@Vitas Cricket - By final collection, you mean they will exit the cricket shoes market completely after that?

In the UK and Europe that will be the case, assuming there isn't a U-turn in the meantime. I don't know what their plans for cricket are in other territories like Aus.
