Title: Absolute lump of a bat from Salix
Post by: Vitas Cricket on September 04, 2017, 03:18:46 PM
A customer who's had a few very large and heavy bats from us in the past contacted us as he wanted a massive Salix in his usual spec, 3lb 4oz, as large as possible particularly in the toe and shoulders. Salix duly obliged.....

My elbows are hurting just by looking at it  :o . Having a retailer who can get you a custom made from Salix, H4L and GN is a big plus @Vitas Cricket.

Glad to see the trend is dying off for huge concaving. These bats just look better in this shape. :)

@Vitas Cricket is it possible to get a custom GN like the XP80 through you?

@Vitas Cricket is it possible to get a custom GN like the XP80 through you?

Bespoke Gray Nicolls shapes are only possible in the UK as part of the Legend Experience factory visit. I am sure i can arrange one despite them appearing not to have a price listed for 2018, it will almost certainly be more than the 2017 price which would have set you back the best part of £1000. Whether they will do a shape as extreme as an XP80 would be entirely up to them, i have no idea as i've never asked.

'Custom' GN's that we have done in the past are not really custom, they are more about the customer getting a bat/shape that they want in a grade not normally available. Dynadrive, Scoop and Nemesis for example, these have been our most popular requests over the years as they are not available in an LE grade off the shelf.

It makes an almighty noise when you bounce a ball on it, and so does the ceiling, of the main showroom.....

Fat shoulders and a fat toe.
Two areas you really don't need that much wood in.
I mean, look at that toe!
I don't geddit.
Why not retain a sufficient amount of wood in shoulders and toe, and redistribute most of it into the hitting zone?

Generally large shoulders mean a better pickup, and some people have an unnecessary obsession with toe durability.
The reasons behind this bat? I don't know, I simply reflected what the customer wanted, he's had a number of H4L Monsters with very similar shoulders and toes.

The toe is the more regularly used "hitting zone" on my bats... :-[

Always been tempted to get a 3lb bat (or heavier) but don't want to order one without having a go first and it's hard to find shops with anything that heavy in stock.

The toe is the more regularly used "hitting zone" on my bats... :-[

If I could get a bat with the sweet spot running down the inside edge I'd be banging out hundred after hundred.

Big, Brash and ultimately doomed to disappoint its owner.
