I'm on two for the season so far; one over deep cow, and one a slog sweep.

Also hit two this season, slog sweep over deep square leg, and a miss timed pull that still managed to go over!

I never really go for sixes tbh, just thought it would be the right time to do so. Would prefer to hit a cover drive 4 though... 8)

All I can say to you lot is: Wayyyyyyyy! It makes the two I've hit this season alone seem muuucchh better  ;D and I didn't even have to middle them  :P Don't worry yourselves, it'll come before long (how long, I wouldn't know)
Although to be honest, what would you rather do, get a six, or a big score? Don't go trying to get a six and instead get caught, just play naturally!
Title: Re: Custom Bats Forum Sixes League
Post by: Danny on May 28, 2008, 02:39:25 PM
Exactly Arthur. I would much prefer to hit a 50 or even a ton than wack a few sixes and then get caught on the boundary.
Title: Re: Custom Bats Forum Sixes League

yeah me too! I only go for 6s in the last 5 overs or to finish a game in stylee!

I hit my first 6 EVER on Tuesday!!! Hook shot over the longest boundry and then followed it up with a four in the same place.

When i hit that 6 my coach said who was on the boundary with my team, " anybody would think he had just won the world cup"

Boy was i happy!! lol poor leo

hit 3 on sunday, tbh tho most juniors wont be hitting sixes, A) the bowlers are alot slower so you would need ALOT of strength, B) most juniors bats are very small in profile and weight compared.

i got one six off a short legstump pitched ball.. timed it really well, hardly any power used. I was shocked to say the least.. (my sweetspot must be real SWEET!)

next ball was fuller wide of offstump, which i managed to drag onto my wickets with an inside edge  :-[ ahhhhhhhh

Nearly hit my first one today bounced just in front of the rope  >:( closest i've ever got. It was from a pull that i din't even try and hit hard so next time i'm going to try and hit it it might just go the few extra yards.

Hit one in the past 3 seasons in a match, although I've hit a few more in practice games.  The one I hit in a competitive match was in the first match of the 2007 season.  Got a full toss on leg-stump from a medium pacer, flicked it over the square leg boundary.

Would have dropped myself for the next match if I hadnt got atleast 4 off that delivery (not really but you know what I mean).

i think this year i have hit about 10 sixes, give or take a few. i would have hit a few more but i am horrendously out of form this year.

the one i liked the best was a pick up off my legs, it was against some kid who thought he was a big man cos he played mens cricket and was on kent's books as a spinner. i literally took him apart in my one good innings this year.
he bowled one drifting into my pads and just picked it up and it flew a very long way, it hit the trees halfway up at lordswoods bottom ground. then he bowled another a full toss and it got bludenged over midwicket for another six

looking back over all the previous posts i'm a bit surprised. i am by no means a brilliant batsman but i'm 17 and i've well over 50 sixes in my life, and my first one was when i was 11. i dont mean to offend anyone, just a bit surprised as i thought my 6 hitting was below average!

I hit 16, 9 in one innings, I have the card but there are no records of boundaries unfortunatly. 9 in my 158no (albeit playing a lower standard) and 5 in my 99no (grr). Two just in the last game of the season

i dont count my sixes but its always nice to hit one... i find a cover drive that roclets past extra cover far more satisfying than a slog over cow corner

Last season I hit a poor number of sixes: 3

mind you, one of the sixes was a shocker, coming in at #11 they brought on their opening bowler back on so they could get us out for a low score, he gave me a nice ball to just have a slog at, pull for 6, you could ay I just closed my eyes and hit it, I basicly did the same the next ball, but to cow corner which had the longest boundary on the ground, it wasnt a 6, but it was close, much to amazement to our team, and frustration to their bowler

my last six of the season was textbook, off spiner, right over his head for six
