I know we all love a new bat, but I was wondering who plays with an old bat as their match bat. My match bat (only one match this summer) was bought at Vitas in 2013, before that I played with a Duncun Fernley from around 95/96. It went like a train until it fell to pieces one night at nets
Who loves playing with a classic bat?

I have an old CA from around 99/00 that I used most of last season and still use as my wet weather bat. I was supposed to put up some photos of it and never got round to it, might try and upload some tomorrow if I get round to it.
Be warned, I don't care what my kit looks like and subsequently, I haven't cleaned or sanded it ever so it's not for the faint of heart!

Love it @Big Mac

My CA is over four seasons old. I have seen some really old CAs in our league!

Our number 8 batsman , 1980 quad scoop ian chappell , still gets laughed at , but he gets runs & had owned since new

2011 Kookaburra Biggest Kahuna is one of my 3 match bats.. The reason for its survival is that i am a low middle order batsman.
-
The 2011 H4L Monster is currently held together with about 4oz of bat tape, the toe has totally gone, but I am not binning it until it snaps in half because it's a rocket
-
I occasionally play with a guy who has an old SS Jumbo that weighs about 4 pounds and is held together with 4 different colours of electrical tape....
The tape makes me sick.
-
Same match bat since 2014 season.
Three different sets of softs used during that time though!

And because you've got 2 other match bats.

It's a 2009 Hawk G10 for me used it throughout 2017 it's in pristine condition and goes like a train.

current match bat is 2 years old (to me anyway bought off here) which on here is an age but before that was a 2009 Adidas incurza
used to play with a lad whos dad used a gray nics signed by Gower was apparently one of his old bats too

Play with a pair of chaps who both use old GN Scoops from the 80's, will try and get pics as without those they don't exist!
Also one of our occasional players uses a SS Jumbo just like Goochie!

Gooch used a Turbo.

One of my teammates opens the batting using an original early 80s V12.

As SS of some sort...an old one, Turbo, Jumbo, you get the point.

I have decided to move away from my experiment of using bats with a high middle, back to a mid middle. As the only bat I have with a mid middle is my trusty GN Dynadrive from 1995 (still got a great pick up and ping). This was bought from Bill Edwards' sports shop in Swansea, a remarkable shop, run by an amazing man (Which has prompted me to start a new thread about him). As this decision has come after my last match of the season, this is only theoretical -I suspect I shall be acquiring a new bat before next April.

PS. My pads are from a visit to VKS in 1992 , still lightweight and going strong, will post a picture with the matching gloves when I get a chance (I have largely been out of playing for 17 years, but am now back as family life has eased).

I have used a Salix Falx for the past 3 or so seasons that is probably 7 years old.
@GeorgeB93 scored a 100 a few weeks ago with a 3lb Bayonet from the 90's.
-
My match bat is a Talisman Storm that I bought in 2011. Still going strong, mostly because I don't stay long enough to use it much :)
-
Up until a few seasons ago i used my dads GN Powerspot - bought in 1984 and scored a boatload of runs....until i got hold of it and cracked it inside of 2 seasons.
Still have it in the garage and probably the best bat i've ever used, hoping my new Aldred is better though!!
Can grab pics if anyone wants them - the powerspot used to get sent back to GN every season for refurb, used to come back looking like new!
-
I still use my 2004/2005 Kahuna occasionally; nipped a cheeky 50* with it first game of last season....old school traditional shape with no concaving and small edges, before they went all macho! Were they anything to do with Rob Pack by any chance, only it looks really similar to some of the Puma bats of around that time that I believe he was involved with?
