Hi all
I recently got in contact with neoncricket realising that he was only 5 minutes down the road from Me lol.
After some discussion about he state of the local league as well as our own clubs we came on to kit.
Adam mentioned that he had restarted his business. I am keen to support local companies in all walks of life but as there are not many local companies in terms of Cricket (apart from Uzi and now neoncricket) I was hopeful that the bats and kit would be of quality.
Adam and I got chatting and we agreed to meet up - Adam had all of his sample bats out ready for me. He said that these are all players grade and were made for the promo shots for the website. So they are all lookers. I won't go into who makes Neon's bats as he says himself " I'm sure the forum will know". But they are very well made - exceptional craftsmanship.
After looking at and picking up all of the bats (pink, blue, green and orange) I immediately ruled out the blue one (at 2lb 14oz it was far to heavy for me) but it's a lovely shape. Next was the pink, the "one that started it all". This picked up excellently at 2.lb 11oz. And was as light as a feather (great pickup and balance) But it wasn't quite the shape I was after. So it was a shoot out between the orange and green.
The green is a stunning (and I mean stunning) piece of willow - check the website out to see what I mean and to be honest I was almost sold on that by the looks alone but the handle is slightly longer to allow to his over the top abit more. Which didn't feel quite right in my hands. I am sure I would have got used to it but The handle on the orange felt perfect to me. The orange weighs 2.12 which is what I was looking for with a nice pickup. It doesn't feel it's weight I would say 2lb10oz in the hand. The shape is very similar to my H4L NV but on steroids lol. After much debate picking each of them up and further conversation about the bats and fellow team mates it was the orange which was he winner.

isnt she a stunner - weights in at 2.12 but to be honest feels 2.10 and it is a monster
Here is a comparison of it against my H4L NV

I haven't tapped it up or started the knocking in process as yet as I have been abit busy this weekend so I will update this review with specs later on this week.
Thanks again @neoncricket cant wait to get the matching softs too when they are available

Stunning bat! Will serve you well for sure.
-
Love that, looks really nice, I will be buying a neon soon too.
-
Lovely tone of heartwood on that, and excellent grains. Will serve you well I'm sure!
-
Meh.
Not a fan of the stickers. Bat looks ok.

I hope so @Chad will look even nicer with a coat of oil I'm sure

Yep, impressive bats! Good choice @velvetsky01
Thanks @DorsetDan you should contact adam - keep it local ;-)

Thats a very nice stick...but am I alone in absolutely hating the stickers (well, the colour of them at least)?
-
couldn't really go understated with stickers if your name is NEON
good looking stick and I think Andy was going to speak to you about a new one @neoncricket from when we were talking in pub
-
Nice bat not keen on the stickers not the colour the length think bold Neon colours works better when smaller.
-
I shall be honest - I was abit taking aback by the orignal Pink sticker - I wasnt keen on that too bold for my taste BUT it does need to make a statement and it fits in with the brand name.
But i LOVE the Orange and the green stickers.
Like @DorsetDan said In the flesh the translucent nature of the stickers really do look good. The only problem with them is that when you oil your bat those see thru parts of the stickers wont be the same colour as the rest of the bat. This will cause my OCD no end of problems lol
I was given some of the green stickers for a blank bat (an Aldred) I was hoping to use abit next season - this of couse had been waxed before putting the stickers on - so you can see what i mean

Cheers all for your comments and @velvetsky01 for the kind write up - all feedback of any kind is very much appreciated.
Naturally I understand the stickers won't be to all tastes (especially the Pink!!), but then it wouldn't be very Neon if they weren't a little in your face! :D

Oh, it isn't so much the design - I actually think that is decent, and I even quite like the green version - I just can't stand that horrid Benidorm Suntan colour!
-
Lovely! I was a massive fan of the pink if im honest. Alot of wood left near the splice to improve the balance!
Hopefully you can get down to the southern nets @velvetsky01 so we can drool over it

Haha appreciate the honesty - there's a very good reason I've done 4 different colours this time around!

An Update
My OCD has got the better of me - So i removed the stickers and have asked Neoncricket for a set of replacement ones (which they have kindly agreed to send) So I am able to have the same finish underneath the stickers than all along the bat. Further proofing what a good company they are to deal with.
Bat Prior to first coat of Oil (and atfer sticker removal)

And after first Coat

Brought the grains out nicely - 2nd coat this evening leaving 24hours apart.
The Stickers should arrive at some point this week so will put them on after the oil has dried.

That's a lovely looking stick, obviously, I haven't been paying attention, Hunts made?
-
I wouldn't like to comment on where it is made....
-
Hunts is in Cambridgeshire...
Sticker says handmade in kent :)

You're looking at the wrong bat mate - certainly aren't made in Kent and it isn't on the stickers! (Although there's certainly nout wrong with bats made in Kent!)
As per Tony's OP, it's fairly obvious where they're made - I'd rather just keep it to well informed 'speculation' on a public forum :)
