Title: Pads for big lads.. Big calves...
Post by: Yorkershire on October 11, 2017, 09:24:06 PM
Okay search for batting pads goes on.. Have a pair of BAS players which just about fit.. Got a pair of AM Excellence, really light but straps too small...

Should just get some GN Legends?? Should have bought from vitas ' sale.... Okay enough ranting... Any recommendations? Normal men's size with decent length straps...

I may have some OSM 50/50s with matching gloves... they may or may not have longer straps... ;) :)

You can never go wrong with Gray Nicolls Legends.

Buy them once, use them till they tear apart.

I completely agree! I bought them in the beginning of this season and I won't be going back from it. Legends are light and provide the best protection.

Thirded, I stumped up the cash and bought a pair directly from GN (needed navy ones) and they are the business as always.

How do the GN Velocity XP1 Tests compare to the legend? Its only £3 quid but curious.

Velocity, Predator and Powerbow are not the same as legend, they are predominantly foam and much lighter but also less sturdy feeling.

Supernova Test, same price, protection spec and materials quality as Legend, but a slightly different build, notably the shin bolster. Half price here

Crazy to think £85 is now considered a "pretty good price" for a pair of top end pads.

Back in the good old days you could get a stick and matching softs for that!

Kookaburra straps are a decent length, coming from somebody with chunky legs

edit - sorry looks like they don't have Standard mens RH, but do have LH and OSM in both

Thanks guys and @19reading87 for mentioning Kooks and confusing me further :)

Not feeling the Supernova knee-roll.

Think I will sleep on it, but would be nice to take advantage of the sales. Also curses on @Vitas Cricket too for the great deals  ;) ... I have had to resist as I already bought a bat at the end of this season that I am knocking in...

Did donate some kit to a charity last year so I didn't feel the guilt. Anyone know of any cricketing charities that want kit. Happily donate my pads... so I can get some new ones...

Okay went for it ordered Legends from Pro direct...

Resisted a great deal from vitas for some new balance pads... but bought a supernova duffle from him...

See if the legends live up to the hype... will they be my last pads ever??

@Yorkershire they'll definitely be the last pads you purchase before your next pair!

Big Lad with big calves here. CA pads are the longest I've found. Kookaburra couldn't quite cut it for me.

@Yorkershire. I know this reply is bit late but I received my focus limited pads from vitas yesterday.
Beautiful pads very cheap as they on sale and I guess they got last one if you quick to buy.  Straps are decent length and comfortable.

I recommend them as they half price ATM if you still looking for one.

Not sure if you’re still looking.

The bb traditional pads have longer straps and an extended size wing.

Happy to offer an out of season forum discount if interested
