Title: 2018 gear?
Post by: jimmy23 on October 13, 2017, 01:50:25 PM
Anyone have any ideas on release dates for the new stuff?
Heard the designs are really clean and nice to look at but I haven’t seen any images.

£4,000 rupees is just under £50.
I assume they'll cost a bit more than that to buy over here...

Was told a while back they had changed them to a silver/grey colour for 2018 so these seem to match the description

I bet those are Bairstow's. He's been wearing spiked up Boosts all season. Those are next season's model.

I'm surprised no one had noticed Bairstow was doing this.

I like the slick look of the boots, not sure on the bat stickers though.

Bat looks terrible. I think Adidas gear has looked brilliant for the last 2 seasons.

I really fancied a pair of the green nb spikes until I saw these, now I’m torn

I have switched from long term asics wearer to the SL22, only thing I didn't like was the orange stripes. They are super comfy and look much better in the silver.

The 2018 New Balance range is up on pro direct - http://www.prodirectcricket.com/lists/cricket-bats.aspx?brand=newbalance (http://www.prodirectcricket.com/lists/cricket-bats.aspx?brand=newbalance)

Edit: Seems to be a lot cheaper on All rounder cricket, just ordered a pair of the CK10 spikes.

Apparently Broad's bats only cost £165 - Bargain!

That article might as well have 'sponsored and paid for by Adidas' written across the top. I can 100% guarantee you that those bats are not 165 quid Adidas XTs (whatever the stickers may say!).

I'm sure he is using 'Top quality Grade 5 English willow' :D

£148 on prodirect it is the bottom of the range one, grade 5 willow

Going by JS Wright's grading
http://www.cricketbatwillow.com/blades-grading (http://www.cricketbatwillow.com/blades-grading)
The lowest grade of willow is
Quote
A Grade 4 Blade

A Grade 4 Blade is normally over half colour or contains butterfly stain (see our page on Imperfections in Willow). It will still play as well as the other grades. Any number of grains are possible with often only 4 grains, the willow containing ‘butterfly’ stain is very strong, there could also be more “speck” and other faults.

Which begs the question, what even is grade 5 willow?
