After reading the thread on indoor boots, I just wondered what we all wear batting outdoors. I have always batted in a pair of basic cheap white trainer (Nike), I did try a pair of tennis shoes but slipped over in the wet and was almost ran out.
-
Rubber soled New Balance 4020, have a spiked pair also but we play on Astro.
-
Many would say concrete boots, but I actually prefer a slingback or a kitten-heel.
-
Might want to split spikes criket boots into full and half spikes :)

Please, please wear them batting on sunday
-
I use NB 4030 full spikes for batting and bowling - they work well for me.
Why do people use 1/2 spikes instead of full?
-
I normally wear spikes or my TK steel caps! But am trying a pair of boosts this season to see how I get on.
Have heard mainly good things so got to try :)
-
Payntr boots for batting
seem fine to me
-
Gray Nicolls test opener full spike shoes they have a front centre spike ideal for marking your guard.
-
I've got some Nike half and half, not sure what style they are. I got them at Vitas a few years, they are comfy and light. Not that i stay in long enough to know if they are good for a whole innings!!!!
-
Adidas sl22s for most turf wickets , asics with athletic spikes for super rolled/flat/shiny pitches where most people wearing normal spikes go ice skating. Adidas response and ultraboost for astro/indoor nets .

Since ive started using sl22s i dont have a good spike for marking centre , so i now do the west indies thing .....use a bail and bat handle to hammer in my guard markings.
-
New Balance 4030 for me. I've never had an issues with them.
-
I used SL22 boost for about 3 games and gave up on it, slipped multiple times while batting on turf, lost traction and control on couple of run outs while keeping. I am back to wearing my old adidas spikes although they’re just about ripping from everywhere. Contemplating on getting the NEW BALANCE CK10 lime green ones once they come out.
-
I wear a pair of Reebok Pheehan Run Trainers that were Spiked Up by Jake at Vitas.
They are the best thing i have batted in ever.
-
I "play" in asics gel speed menace full spikes
I'd forgotten they are a bowling boot, (had em three years)
They are pretty knackered now, and I'm looking to use the adidas rubber spiked sl,s
I used to bat in trainers, but felt I was losing a little bit of power in shots, and they were hard work when the wickets were damp, especially running singles etc,(not that I would dream of running)

It was missing out on a big score wearing soft soles that made me change to spikes. Slippery pitch, couldn't turn ones into twos etc. due to sliding about on the turn and no traction at the start.
-
I'm sure I can generate a lot more power in shots with spikes.
-
Surely you mean Clogs?
-
Puma evo speed spikes always used there football boots and find there cricket shoes the most comfortable
-
Asics gel strike rates with half spikes, mine are knackered so lucky for me a mate is sending me some from Oz!
-
Asics strike rate for me too. Total (No Swearing Please) that you can't find replacement spikes anywhere. I think they still sell them in the asics shop in Street if you need a pair. They were £50.
-
Spikes (Asics 220) unless it is absolutely rock hard, mid summer pitch; then I will use NB rubber soled cricket boots.
I also love a spike to ensure my guard is marked clearly.
-
Spiked trainers.
-
Asics gel strike rate 4's possibly the most comfortable shoe I've ever used, however once they go it's back to spiked trainers

These: https://www.rei.com/product/828600/brooks-cascadia-7-trail-running-shoes-mens (https://www.rei.com/product/828600/brooks-cascadia-7-trail-running-shoes-mens)
They are feather light, have rubber spikes, and great for light/moderate hikes/trail-running.
Very hard to find these now. I paid full retail price for the first pair but only paid a fraction for the second one. I'd stock up on these if I could find any pairs.
-
Asics Gel ODI's this season. Have a pair of Nike dominate 2s for next season
-
@Maverick79 where did you get your Gel ODI’s from?
-
I got them them from VKS (I think!), they were the last pair they had. I don't know where you would get a new pair now as they were hard to find when I got mine. I did have them mine on eBay recently but they went unsold.
-
I know the struggle all to well, been trying to find a pair at a decent price for almost a year now, look like such great shoes aswell!
-
I just play in astro turf football boots. Probably a bunch of reasons why that's not a good idea but I've never had any problems.

You can sometimes catch your heel when pivoting on a shot, and most of the grip when running is from the front half of the foot anyway, except maybe when you're putting the breaks on.
-
I use the New Balance CK10NA for the 2017 season and will be upgrading to the New Balance CK10 2018 model for next season
-
Can't believe I am the only one who wears trainers to bat in, I feel like a bit of a weirdo now!!!!
next your say you wear pads and gloves batting in the nets

I wear asics gel 100 not out. No issues

You've set the standard now, we expect you to go in to bat without pads or gloves at the next forum net... ;)

Even though I have some new shoes, I'm still rocking my 5 year old Asics gel advanced 4 shoes.
-
half spiked trainers for me from the cricket doctor so not sure if am classed in trainers or spikes
-
I bat in trainers where possible. I only feel comfortable in trainers. Any hint of dampness in the pitch though and the half spike asics gel advance go on and I have to try to put it out of my mind that I am in spikes !
-
New Balance.
-
Advance 6’s usually, field in my SL22 Boosts due to having to do a fair bit of running
-
SL22 boosts for me too, never had a grip problem and so much more comfy than anything else I have had.
