Evening all
As some of you that follow me on social media maybe aware I’ve been doing various pieces of R&D with leading impact protection material specialists D3O. One of the products that has come from the depths of the lab is a d3o lined box, given its outstanding performance as a material if I’m going to get hit in the babymaker I’d want to be wearing one of these.
These will be available at £16.99 inc VAT and UK delivery in a white or black finish with the d3o branded orange liner.

Drop me a line if you want one as I’ve got a few due in next week.
Ps The carbon weave one was just to show the finish that’s viable over the stock black/white version. The venting helps over the Aero version that’s a similar shape and it’s more sturdy than the shock doctor version that I’ve used for the last 2 seasons whilst still offering comfort.
-
Very interersted actually. Im in need of an xxl box ;)
-
Have sent you a PM TomTek.
If Fattus Cattus was around there would be some jokes about my wife and something black and shiny, but fortunately he isn't... yet...!
-
Give him time....

There is a size stamped inside so I presume they might come in various sizes, I’m currenty using the Road Cone Edition 🍆
-
What would be the cost of the Carbon one please Tom?

It’s not actually Carbon it’s just a print, it was also a sample just to show what’s viable. Stock items are either white or black 👍
-
Ill be interested mate as usual with your stuff
-
What’s the benefit of these over something like the Shockdoctor @Ayrtek Cricket ?
Also, what is the benefit of the D30 over regular box materials?

It’s more sturdy than the shock doctor (I’ve been using that for he last 2 seasons) and the internal lining is made from d3o which is widely regarded as the best impact absorbing material on the open market. The venting features are beneficial over full encased versions like the aero model too IMO.
-
I’ll take a black one please mate! All the protection equipment I’ve got from you has been first class, can’t imagine this would be any different!! And there’s no place more important to protect!! ;)
-
No probs @JB ping it over via BACS if you’ve still got details and I’ll add it to the list 👍

@Ayrtek Cricket can you bring some to the Somerset net next Sunday?

@Ayrtek Cricket can you bring some to the Somerset net next Sunday?
Will do if I can obtain enough to fulfil orders and have some spare 👍
-
Had a few pm’s Asking about extra info on these, they have been CE accredited which means they have been subjected to BSI testing In order to pass the safety standards that are stamped inside of them.
Not all cricket boxes would undergo such rigorous testing to obtain a CE mark which is something that provides a certain degree of comfort in my mind when chosing a product to protect such a vital area!

There are a batch of carbon effect ones I’ve managed to get my hands on, if anyone has a particular craving for carbon 👍
-
Yes please for a carbon effect one Tom.
I’ll have the XXL slightly dissapointing size please.
Can you PM me your PayPal/bank details and I’ll get the money across to you mate.
-
Will do 👍
-
@Ayrtek Cricket .... pm me payment details. I’ll take on.
-
No worries, PM sent.
Im hoping that stock reaches me this week so as soon as it does ill get the backlog of orders out the door for everyone.
Packaging should also be sorted by then too!
-
Done! No rush... send when ready. Cheers
-
Whats the sizing like on these Tom ?
Shock doctor size would be way too small , aero size would be a bit smallish ....anything a bit bigger than an aero box ?
-
Hi mate
I’ll dig out my aero and shock doc tomorrow for comparison
-
Cheers Tom.
Payment sent.
-
Thanks mate, got it 👍
-
Bit of a comparison between the various models below for you @Biggie Smalls
(https://i.imgur.com/iBkTHkAl.jpg)
SD one very narrow and shallow by comparison to the Aero and D3O version that are of simailr size and shape but aero doesn’t offer any ventilation of internal protection in the form of the D3o foam liner that’s designed to absorb the impact.
-
Thanks Tom .
Seems a wee bit less volume than the aero . Bugger .
If you get a bigger size in at a later stage id be interested.
Cheers .
-
These are now en route and will be with me shortly, I’ll be listing them on the website next week and the Carbon version will be marginally more at £17.99 once listed.
I’m happy to honour the CBF price for anyone wanting either a black or carbon one prior to them going Online.
Cheers
Tom

Stock has now reached me, just waiting on the stickers to arrive to add as the finishing touch and picking up Packaging later on with any luck too. As soon as it’s all here I’ll be packaging them up and getting all pre-orders en route.
For reference these have passed the following safety standard in the lab:-

Tom, bring a White one Sunday and I'll give you the cash for it - if the packaging isn't ready then I'll just have it loose!
-
If you stuck one of those Carbon Fibre ones over each eye, you'd look like 'The Fly'

Loving the stickers. Nice little touch. I wondered what was going there
-
Yeh little finishing touch, luckily they arrived this morning so a busy Monday beckons having to pick and Pack all the back orders 👍
-
looking good. I know my wife gets frustrated when yet another bat shaped box arrives but surely... surely she can't annoyed when this arrives.
Fingers crossed I never get to actually find out just how good this is at protecting the old "bat and balls", no one ever wants thats.
-
Used one of these today at the somerset net - Thankfully I didn't get hit so can't comment on protection but I'm 100% confident it'll be the bees knees.
Main thing for me was how comfy it was wearing it. Didn't even notice it was there
-
Thanks @jamesisapayne good to have some feedback on them, busy morning tomorrow labelling up all he others to send out. That’s if I can make it down the stairs successfully 1st.

Solution to that would be not to go up stairs
-
That’s tonight’s challenge, I’ve been on the sofa since nets and getting up is going to take some effort....and I don’t think staying up to watch us slip 1-0 behind is particularly appealing 😲

Fully agree with the above, cracking bit of kit. Nice cushioning around the edge from the D30, definitely worth the extra few quid!
-
Thanks Adam, it’s an area where if hit it can be painful enough already without compromising on the protection provided. A few horror stories of cheap boxes splitting/pintching aren’t something I’d ever want to risk experiencing.
Given the cost of other bits of cricket related kit now I’ve tried to keep them at a level where people get a premium & BS testing proven product for the price of a round of beers.
-
Oh, go on then. Stick me down for a carbon effect one. PM me your deets, Tom.
-
Do they come in xxs? 🙄🤛
For a friend of course 😉

Well the new box is certainly more spacious than my Shock Dr box...!
I just opened mine, very impressed
-
Glad they are making their way to people, I posted the 1st batch on Monday so hopefully the rest will arrive with people shortly.
-
Mine arrived today, very comfy quality is much higher than any other box I've used, makes my shock doctor feel pretty weedy
-
Mine arrived today, too. Kids have had fun testing it out with plastic golf clubs.....thumbs up, I felt nothing!

You are braver than me. I hid mine from the kids pronto!
-
You see?
This is the sort of thorough product testing we need to see!
Equipping a gaggle of kids with plastic golf clubs to unleash a righteous thrashing on a piece of protective equipment should be the new British Standard in safety.
-
Just 5 Carbon effect ones left in stock now, healthy stock of the black version though 👍
-
Make that 2 left....
-
Make that 2 left....
He he,

1 remaining
-
So just recieved mine... Wasnt expecting a delivery at 5pm on a sunday but even better i guess!
I will admit i tried it on and not only might i wear this out to impress the ladies.. I did punch it a few times with no feeling what so ever... The D3O tech is something ive seen before but couldn't get hold of. As soon as I saw Tom's post I couldn't type quick enough!
Definitely worth every penny
-
Save that last one for me @Ayrtek Cricket ... looking at the delivery history MyHermes might have lost mine mate.
-
Used mine today in my Aero briefs. Very comfortable, especially with the cushioning of the D3O. Money very well spent 👍🏼
-
Same set-up as what I used last Sunday at the CBF net, found it worked well 👍
Only 1x Carbon effect one left but plenty in the stock black and 1x white if anyone wants a more subtle option.
I’m away next week but will still be picking up emails etc but will process all orders upon my return.
-
All carbon sold now, Black remaining that is exactly the same product but without the carbon effect finish upon it.
Will catch up on pending orders once I’m back over the weekend.
-
Anyone who might be in the market for one of these the stock I have will be the last run as they have discontinued the product line of them.
They are available via the webshop still but once they are gone they are gone http://www.ayrtekcricket.com/product/ayrtek-cricket-groin-guard-d3o/ (http://www.ayrtekcricket.com/product/ayrtek-cricket-groin-guard-d3o/)
-
Highly recommended! Most comfortable box I’ve ever used
-
Yep, decent product.
