That's a bit of a strange one.
-
Not sure how you see that as strange. Sussex have been on a downwards spiral since Robbo went on to coach the World Cup winning England Womens team. The club needed to do something quickly.
There's alot of potential in the 2nd XI but i dont think they are getting the right coaching/prep.
As a sussex fan id be very excited what he can do with the youngsters as well as who he will attract as overseas/kolpak.
Despite the big names we've had recently, very rarely have they showed up and performed.

More the fact that did he not leave a firing Yorkshire side to go back to Australia full time?

I completely agree a very strange move for him but a great signing for Sussex!

massive signing for Sussex... not sure how they have managed this... Gillespie left Yorkshire to move home to coach and live full time in Australia.
that being said it can only be good for him to be coaching the likes of Garton and Archer, 1st port of call must be replacing Chris Nash though surely.

It is strange given how he wanted to live in aus full time, but he has done a lot of part time coaching gigs (Kent and PNG) plus he was the Adelaide strikers BBL coach. Didn’t he rule himself out of the running for the aus bowling role, wonder if he thinks moving back to England gives him a better chance of getting the England job once Bayliss gives it up (end of his contract in 2019 or sooner)?
-
Seems odd as he only left Yorkshire to be back in Australia.
He has been tipped for the top England job maybe he could spend half the year here and half in Oz?
And as for Bayliss, transformed our one day cricket no doubt a massive thank you but test cricket we are not making the progress expected.
If we lose the Ashes will he still be in a job? Probably yes but also possibly not.

No word whether sussex have offered somethung for his family.. Could be possible? I doubt it.
