Title: Grove Royale
Post by: Over Gully on November 28, 2017, 05:05:56 AM
I don't usually make purchases that are more a want than a need, but I had a lucky streak on the punt during the Spring Racing Carnival in Melbourne so I decided to treat myself to some new cricket gear. Having lived in Perth for a number of years I'd bought most of what I currently have from Meulemans and it's all top quality, so I hit them up again, this time going for their own exclusive brand, Grove. Buying online, especially bats, is something I have steered away from in the past, but I trust Bob, Scott and the boys there so gave them my spec for the bat (2lb 9oz, 9-10 straight grains, minimal/no heartwood). What I received has taken my breath away!

I went for the Grove Royale range, which is their lightest bat. The specs are:

Weight - 2lb 9.4oz (it was measured at 2lb 8.5oz before the scuff sheet was applied)
Edge - 40mm
Spine Height - 65-66mm
Grains - 8-9 (there is one at the bottom that disappears as you go up the blade)

The ping is next level, rivals my GN XXX that I bought from Meulemans about 4 years ago. As I am a bit OCD when it comes to kit I also bought the Royale range of softs. Gloves are great with a full pittards palm and the pads very lightweight. Unfortunately it will be some time until I take the field as I broke my finger nearly a month ago and it required surgery and  couple of pins inserted. I'll be doing well to get back before the season is done, but I hope I do!

What a coincidence

I was in GCCC Melbourne today and walked out with a Grove Royale supreme!  Extremely impressive bats!  Looks like a beauty mate!

Stunning kit. Any idea as to who makes these bats?

No idea but I’m pretty sure they are Indian made. As per TNF, Incon, etc. but the quality is unquestionable based on what I received. They were really good to deal with too. Told them my spec, sent me pics of what they had and they said it was the best in the shop of the Grove bats. Will definitely get another I reckon!

Agreed. Got a GN Shaun Marsh replica and Stuart picked an excellent bat for me. Their customer service is excellent!

They were made by GN, assume still the same.

nice bat, just a shame about the "players" sticker, looks like an after thought.

The front sticker is not supposed to be centred Buzz.

I think their softs are excellent and much more reasonably priced than the bigger brands.

I don't care where it's supposed to be, it looks naff!
Either line it up along the bottom edge of the main sticker, or don't apply it...
