Title: Payntrs
Post by: NT50 on December 03, 2017, 04:58:22 AM
Hi lads!

Thinking of buying some payntr spikes for next season, as only 1/4 of my games are on Astro turf this year I can't justify wearing trainers again all season!

I was just wondering what everyone whose bought a pair thinks of them? I've never owned a pair of spikes as I tend to roll my ankle and do my ligaments pretty much twice a year, so prefer something lightweight like trainers.

I've heard that they are a little bit smaller so go a size up (I'm a 6.5 usually so with the ankle support I wear, 7 sounds about right, I will hopefully go and try some one before Christmas)

Also the 'quick tie' laces seem like more of a nuisance than a help, what's people's thoughts on them?

 Cheers!

If you're having ankle issues then these aren't the shoe for you. Very little support in them, basically just a spiked running shoe. You're still better getting a show from an established footwear brand IMO - any of the NB/Adidas shoes will serve you well.

Got 2 pairs and are spiked running trainers basically

Very comfortable and give the same support as a pair of trainers

I’d go half size up and I got rid of the quick laces as soon as I got them as were crap

@NT50 these are not for you with ankle issues.

Would advise something with ankle support.

Sounds like he wants a trainer style due to weight so they could be for him

Can’t think of many cricket boots other than fast bowling ones that offer anything like good ankle support?

The adidas bowling boots are just as light as their normal, comparing the pairs i have. Worth considering.

The new payntrs Xmrk2 are due February, they haven’t released a date yet for the bowling boots.

Cool. I thought I must have missed something on the information they sent me.

Ordered a pair of size 7's and i think the blood flow has only just returned to the sides of my feet after trying them on! Far too tight for me unfortunatley

I have a pair of New Balance 4020 (spike-less) that feel ok fit wise so i would trust a pair of NB spikes for size, however i cant help but feel that they just feel a bit 'bulky'

Has anyone else has problems with rolling their ankles as often as i have? and if so what spikes do you use? i wear a reasonably sized ankle support when i play

I may order some NB spikes and some asics as well to see what the comparison is like

I've got pretty wide fit and I usually stick to Puma boots.

for ankle support both Asics & NB are good shoes. NB & Asics bolwing boots with top strap are really good to lock the foot in place & i am using both for last 2 years.

Just got a pair of the new boosts today, they’re awesome!! I’ve always been a nb fan but these are superb. Thanks Tom

These CK10's from New Balance look pretty decent.
Has anyone seen them in the flesh yet? They look like spiked up mesh trainers which i think would be better for my glass ankles (i like light-weight trainers/football boots so it makes sense)

Ankle problems = buy Asics, I'd say. Not sure the knitted all in one style of Payntrs or those NBs is going to do you any favours with support.

Just bought a pair of Asics Gel 220 not out at Sports Shoes.com for half price - https://www.sportsshoes.com/product/asi5152/asics-gel~220-not-out-cricket-shoes/ (https://www.sportsshoes.com/product/asi5152/asics-gel~220-not-out-cricket-shoes/)

Had some Adidas SL22's for a few years but you can't get better than Asics IMHO

Wouldn’t say they are fast bowling boots but good enough for fielding and batting plus little bit of fat man spin

Ahhhh

bought some of the 2018 Adidas SL22's in Size 7, and due to a few things, i couldn't open them up and try them on until now.

Turns out they're too big, and i can't return them

Suppose i'll have to chuck them on ebay and buy some Asics instead  :(

I agree I found the SL22 boosts very slippery when batting..... payntr’s for me this year I think
