Title: GN Shaun Marsh replica.
Post by: sanredrose on December 09, 2017, 10:24:50 PM
Made in Aus has been a constant tone ringing in the forum for a few months now. I have never been able to wrap my head around using a 2lb14oz GN Signature or GN Warner replica. Finally found a lightweight Shaun Marsh replica bat browsing Meulemans catalog. Got in touch with them and received the bat a few weeks back.

Specs - 2lb 9oz, 35mm edges, 60mm spine, oval handle.

Toe and handle were quite a bit of surprise for me. The bat features a square toe which is unique since most Gray Nics I have seen features a round toe. Handle was the second surprise, there is no twine just a cloth wrap underneath the grip.

@Ajdal Here are the pics.

Stunning bat, shame we can’t get pro replicas in the UK. Bet that cost a packet as bats is Aus are expensive anyway so I believe

@SOULMAN1012 I am not so sure about the expensive part. This bat was listed for 549 AUD which translates roughly to 300 GBP. Not a bad price for a replica bat. GN warner replica and Signature models are somewhere in the range of 800 to 900 AUD. Those are definitely very very expensive.

Is it just me, or are the Australian made GN's much more exciting than the UK made GN's

@jblowe My thoughts exactly. Aussie GN is clearly more exciting. They are cranking out some stunning bats!

It's a replica, not his match bat I guess.

Interesting to see the differences compared to the 'standard' Atomic.

Looks very very nice, especially for the price.

Makes sense. GN warner replica is available in the weight range of 2.10 to 2.14. Guess the replica applies only to the profile and shape but not for the weight.

2.9 isn’t that heavy for a finished weight- looks a lovely bat. Looks like you are building quite a collection. What with the Halestorms as well

Really lovely bat.  I tried to get one myself from Meulemans but all stock had been sold :( I guess its a standard 1000 or 1200 for me when I visit Australia in January

@Percy_Grainger - Get in touch with Meulemans. Last time I spoke, they told me that might request GN to make another batch of March replica bats.

It is quite surprising that Pro replicas cost vary so much based on who the pro is. One would assume all Pros from same bat maker get the same highest quality bat with only difference being the shape and weight which should not make so much price difference.

Meulemans catalog has this bat as a grade 2 , might explain the realative cheap price . However , the bat in this thread looks the goods to me....id be happy with it as a grade 1 . Nice shape too . I'm impressed yet again .....too many oz gns atm that i want to buy ! Not fair !

I don't know if the willow is the same for Shaun Marsh replica and David Warner replica. It might be different.

I was told this is select grade 1 while the higher model Atomic 1400 is superior grade 1 willow.

#forthehaters really sounds like marketing thought up bt 50 years old marketing execs with 15-year-olds in minds.

That said I'm 33 so maybe 15 year olds think this is 'da bomb'.

@sanredrose have you had a chance to use this and how do you find it?

Definitely a lesser seen model that has piqued my interest ... assuming you can get one now of course

Yes. With new turf wickets and higher bounce, the SM replica works very well. Bat has a slightly curved face and I like it a lot. Somehow the flat face doesn't feel comfortable anymore  :D.
