Title: GM bats
Post by: amoboko on February 07, 2010, 06:03:55 PM
Could somebody please explain me the difference between a random GM 606,707,808 and 909 besides the subtile price difference of £20 :-)
Really thinking of getting a Flare/ icon 707 or 808 and maybe a Slazenger pro 1 or 3 :-)

Grade 1+ Original L.E
Grade 1 Original
Grade 1 909
Grade 2 808
Grade 2 707
Grade 3 606
Grade 3 505

Hope this helps lol

What is the difference between the willow of the Original LE, Original and 909 if they are all G1? Dose anyone have example pictures as surely there can't be a noticeable difference between Original and Original LE?!?

Original L.E will look better cosmetically, preform better and will be made from lighter clefts giving you more willow.
Original will look better and perform better than a 909 but not as good as an L.E.
909 will not have ruler straight grains and will not perform as good as the above.

*This is all theoretical and not always true

Yes, this is not always the case. I have used 808's that have had more wood and better performance than Le's of the same model, just pick a bat up that you like in a shop!

I have a 909 here which has been used for a season and is a bit of a plank but I have seen 909's better than L.E's. My mate's got a Catalyst 808 which could be worthy of L.E status :P

Companies should grade on performance a la JM in Aus!

Thanks guys, I will just go to the shop and check out some stuff. A Mate of mine told me that when you go strait to the factory in Nottingham you can do real bargains on bat, maybe I can considering doing that.

I'd love to do that, too far for me unfortunately :(

For me as well, but we 're going with an entire bunch of people buying a lot of bats. We might even do this during our UK tour.
