The first thing that leapt out at me was the minuscule difference between Kashmir and English willow.
The second was how a composite backing seemed to make a bigger difference than the type of willow or knocking in. However:
Accordingly, a 4.5% increase in MOI was found to increase bat performance by 0.85%. Thus, roughly half of the performance advantage attributed to a composite reinforced blade is due to its mass.
Finally, knocking in sacrifices a tiny amount of performance in exchange for longevity/durability.
So, putting all of these factors together...
Which CBF member is going to be the trendsetter and stock up for next season with half a dozen of the heaviest Kashmir willow bats he can find and go into games without knocking in or oiling them at all?
I am honestly quite tempted to just spend 30-40 quid on a 3.5lb Kashmir Willow plank and see how it goes.

Where can I source graphite backed Kashmir bats in bulk?
5 or 6 should last the season if they're not oiled or knocked in :-[

@d7bow maybe that stunning kashmir Ton you had is the way forward then!

What is a “composite backing”?

Bring out the “beast”

Sorry to be a Christmas kill joy .... but :)
The study basically showed nothing and found nothing. It isn't worth reading anything in to it
That said, good old anecdotal evidence says one of the best performing bats I've ever seen was a TON Kashmir willow bat. Huge, beautiful balance, pingy and about £50 in the local sports shop
Aw what, you mean some students doing a test on 3 bats isn't conclusive enough evidence for you? Come on Scrooge, lighten up ;)
