Title: Slazenger
Post by: richthekeeper on January 18, 2018, 10:56:28 AM
So are Slazenger making a big comeback with their sponsorship of Jason Roy? His record ODI score from Sunday won't have done the brand any harm, although I question the wisdom of having Finny and Jimmy as their two other marquee players. What bowler is ever going to help you sell bats?!

One thing I did notice is that Roy used a yellow-gripped V100 bat during his destruction of Australia, but on the Slaz website he is shown using a green XR.

Anyone picked up one of these lately?

You might not be aware, but Slazenger are owned by Sports Direct - naturally I can't imagine they'll be spending any big money, but keeping Roy as their star is at least a good enough move to shift some units!

I suspect the bat Roy was using is from their new range, which likely hasn't been updated on the website yet (the XR was the 2017 model from memory). They've added a few bits onto Sports Direct as a 'pre-order' but the rest of the range will likely follow shortly.

Talent Cricket are one of the few proper cricket shops still stocking Slaz, they have some of the new gear on site.
