Hi all,
My club has been offered an overseas amateur from Oz, stats don’t look amazing but I could look past that if he is playing a serious standard. The first grade thing strikes me as a good standard, however, I’m aware country standards are different to city standards!
Any of our Ozzie lads able to tell me what standard this club plays at?
Cheers.

Our club is in a very similar position.
Have the opportunity of bringing our first overseas amateur to the club this season.
Been offered a few players and stats haven’t looked great, but as you say, it’s very hard to gauge the standard they’re playing and comparing that to our standard?!
I put a very similar post to yours up around Christmas time.

Looks to me it isn’t premier cricket (as in the highest standard) in Melbourne but highest grade in provincial cricket. Would probably need a local to confirm.
We had a similar thing last year, got an overseas who had played first grade somewhere a couple of hours from Adelaide. Was a better fit standard wise for our 2s than 1s. He was a top lad though and he had the summer of his life. He only cost us £150 in the end vi some agency and found him some local digs which he paid for, he also paid for his own flights. Defo worth it in the end at that sort of outlay, you are taking a punt but even if they aren’t very good he’ll probably spend what you end up paying behind the bar!

I played in the Albury/Wodonga A Grade competition last winter as an overseas for East Albury. Standard is reasonably good, similar to Premier League standard here in the UK. Feel free to PM me with the players name and I'll see if I remember him and can help you further.
