Hi all
Having received my new softs from Neon on Thursday, and using them in a net session I can now give a review.
Gloves
These are a high end glove, offering Test Level protection with a 4 split finger design and pittard palms.
They are predominantly white, with a hint of silver to add some colour. There is also some lovely carbon detailing on the top silver and white sections. This means they're neutral to, not only to any of Neon's bat range but also, pretty much any kit.
The sizing is good on these, with mens fitting as they should (and not coming up small like some brands). They are very flexible out of the packet, and the 3 section thumb means they don't really need breaking in.
Offering Test Level protection they obviously do very well in the mallet test. I'd be happy using these against any bowler I've come across and wouldn't fear taking a blow to the hand, so would say they're suitable to a decent standard of club cricket (at least).
With an RRP of £69.99 I was expecting a top quality glove, and can honestly say these deliver. I can honestly say these are among the best quality pair of gloves I've owned (and I've got through a fair few pair over the years!)
And lastly, do people care about the weight of gloves? If so they come in at:
Top hand 160 grams
Bottom hand 190 grams

Pads
These are a lovely traditional pair of pads, with 7 canes (plus the side wing, obviously).
These are in the popular whiteout design with the Neon branding embroidered for a clean look that again goes with any kit, Neon or otherwise.
While the front oozes class, it's on the back you can really see these are a high quality pair of pads. With fully padded straps, a quilted top hat, plenty of mesh round the shins for ventilation and a lovely soft suede instep these really are a top quality set of pads. Another huge plus for the soft leather instep was that these didn't squeak at all out of the packet!
I was impressed by the fit of these too, I didn't need to fiddle with the adjustable knee bolster out of the packet (this may have been down to luck) and they wrapped nicely around my leg for new pads. Given a bit of wearing in I expect they'll mould to my legs and I'll hardly notice they're on. I cannot comment on the protection against a ball yet, as I actually used my bat during the first session with these!
For a traditional pair of pads these are fairly light, coming in at 885 grams per pad.
This premium level of quality does come at a price, with these costing £89.99 a pair.
This does constitute good value to my mind though, as comparable quality pads from "the big boys" costing closer to £120!

having collected my neon softs yesterday and using them in the eve - I will echo @WalkingWicket37 views - they really are very good - the gloves are fantastic very flexable and offer wonderful protection the palms are very soft too
The pads once worn in are going to be very good too - they are comfortable to wear and I agree that is doesn't feel like your wearing anything once they are where you want them - the lack of squeak is a wonderful thing too!
I also used the Neon Duffle for the first time (in fact the first duffle I have used) and I must say this was very nice too (though the lack of a valuables pocket is the only negative point I can think of)

Check the inside of the bag on the front mate, you might be in for a pocket shaped surprise! ;)
And cheers both, glad you're a fan of the gears!

The secret pockets are well hidden but very useful 🤫 almost like they are out there so if people did happen to rummage through ur bag to steal something they’d miss them 🤔
Kit looking great Adam, good to see the brand back out there 👍
