Title: Midlands Cricket Shops?
Post by: billyb on January 27, 2018, 08:30:31 AM
Hi all,
Where do we reckon the best Midlands cricket shops are, ideally not too far from Birmingham.

There's Boundary Sports, V Sports and then Talent in Loughborough... Trying to find some batting gloves today!

They're a bit too far- heading from Coventry, they'd ideally be closer than Loughborough! I swear a forum sponsor opened a branch in Birmingham, once, but maybe I imagined it!

Is that the one near the Ricoh arena past the Aston Martin distribution centre?

I’m pretty sure Uzi Sports opened a Birmingham store, they’d be well worth a visit.

If Uzi is still around, I'll go there! Is V Sports any good nowadays? The website of both there and Cicada doesn't fill me with hope!

Don’t think Uzi is in town any more, both Cicada and V are fine. Great shops

A work colleague of mine took her son to v sport and said the selection was surprisingly good

Friendly staff etc.

@19reading87 might be able to shed more light

I don’t think uzi had a shop in Birmingham anymore but I could be mistaken

There's a couple how about Cidcada  B70 0TU in west Brom    range of brands owed by cricketers inc ex Warwickshire player  a little further south STAC  Bats  in Stourbridge plus Hawk cricket at Belbroughton Stourbridge.
Know them all personally

Uzi Sports has gone from Brum.

There is a reasonable size hole in the Birmingham area.

Cicada as said is ok. Seen some decent V Sports sticks but never been. There is Boundary Sports on Kings Heath but I am not a fan personally.

Stac had some nice sorts when I went in the other day, worth messaging him on Facebook as he's a one man band and gas 2 workshops.
Worth visiting him for his info on who trained who as a bat maker.

I'd avoid it, it isn't run by UZI Sports anymore as far as I'm aware. I net at the centre there and the last time I looked the store only had cheap kashmir bats.

On another note, there is Blade Sports in Evesham.

Blade Sports, Blackminster Business Park, Cadbury Courtyard, Evesham, Worcestershire WR11 7RE

Evesham is more interesting, isn't that near Pryzm cricket?
Looks like Cicada or V Sports are the best options more locally though.

Blade sports is currently closed for the winter though. They'll open specially if you contact them first.

Any new cricket shops opened up yet? Want to have a play with the new GM range... Boundary Sports is now my closest, but I've heard mixed reviews.

I know Sol who runs Boundary and he's had issues with the people who were looking after the Business before, he's taken command of the shop now and is working on rebuilding it's reputation, follow them on instagram because they do Instagram only offers which might suit, doesn't stock GM Bats but he's recently got a batch of Keeley and Aero bats that are lovely, tell him Warren sent you. Also, the price isn't always the price if you catch my drift, plenty of haggling space.

He's always been about, but the day to day was being handled by another guy who's name I can't remember for the life of me. By his own admission he was taking on too many things outside of the shop and put his trust into people who let him down, like I say he's got a rebuild on his hands.

He's always gave me a good deal and really looked after my lad when it was his Birthday, gave him a load of stuff for next to nothing.

I picked up some Aero pads from Boundary the other week and like has been said work haggle for a better price. They had a decent range of of stock in.

Woodworm in Redditch is mainly an online business with next to no stock visible. What little stock they do have out can sometimes be well reduced but it's a lottery. They're welcoming when you pop in but they have to go and collect items from the warehouse for what you want.
