WEPL will do feck all so I wouldn’t worry about it. Last year they were ‘clamping down’ on sledging.. banned two players in the first two weeks then gave up. Can’t see them bothering to enforce this

Not sure how they are going to enforce it, there are barely any umpires in the b&d league

Depends on how thoroughly this is enforced but can seriously see this reducing the numbers playing cricket at the weekend if this is bought in wrong...

Cricket is expensive enough without expecting players to buy new kit!

But reading this nothing is now coming in till 2019 so those with 80mm edges are now ok?

Have I read this right, now I can shove it up the panel umpire who I had the following exchange with

Carlos:' your not seriously going to measure players bats?

Umps:' yes, I have(gets out that measuring contraption)

Carlos:' what are you going to do if I use it?

Umps:' confiscate it, it cannot be used in a game if it exceeds size'

Carlos:' you're serious?

Umps:' yes'

Roll on the season !!  :)

They won’t do a thing this seaosn, next season they say they will. Can’t see it myself as they fail to enforce Any of their other edicts and this one is the most barking

Tbf, assuming brands are now making bats to the regulations it could be left to naturally take effect as older bats break and die etc. Then they could enforce it in say 5 seasons and no one would have an excuse

Exactly...this is the same situation as the carbon handles on the Newbery Uzi, they were outlawed but the bat could be used for its natural life.

Just common sense.

Yep. If they really want to reduce size just do something which hits bat makers who don’t conform to the standards and in 5-6 years there won’t be a many big bats and umpires can check everyone and no one can moan..

Just so simple

Our league sent out a link to the new laws in an email about an umpiring course - we self umpire in our league.

So I asked our secretary to check on the bat sizes regulation, and happily the league secretary came back to say definitely not enforcing that rule change this coming season. So roll on a season of XP80 usage  :)

We’ve been told 2020 it will be enforced
So a couple of seasons at least
Doesn’t affect me, as all my match bats are Newbery tour/full shaped anyway
