Title: Card Payments at your Club
Post by: Rob580 on February 13, 2018, 09:23:00 AM
Does anyone take Card Payments at their club? If so, what system do you use?

I've been looking into getting a card machine for the bar at my club, iZettle looks pretty good, but has anyone got any experience of it either with your club, or as a business?

Or is there an easier / better way of doing it?

We use iZettle in combination with an old iPad off eBay. Works an absolute treat - think the card fee is about 2/3% per transaction but that's the only cost to us, nothing monthly like a standard card machine. I've also got an iZettle for Neon but only use it on rare occasion, again works fine for what I need it for.

The money going through the bar has increased considerably since bringing in card payments, well worth the few hundred quid it cost to set-up initially!

Perfect, thanks.

That was the plan for us, use the iZettle reader & dock (£60), a tablet and pay the 2.75% per transaction.

Are there any alternatives out there, or is it pretty much iZettle only for this sort of thing?

We use iZettle too, seems to work fine and puts a stop to the "I forgot to bring cash" brigade!

We use iZettle for match fees as well as bar takings. It definitely helps to increase bar revenue.

We are looking into this too. Our mobile signal is a bit rubbish and have no wifi, presume you guys have better signal and/or wifi at your clubhouses?

Awesome, we've considered this, but our bar account is separate from the main account so causes a bit of a headache. Does offer up the possibility of Cashback for paying match fees though.

We use PayPal Here, contactless card reader option and can run bar tariff through an ipad or iphone. Can process card, cash or paypal payments for things then.

iZettle Also, have the App on about 5 members who are allways there!

Easy to use and set up!

Not bad to get Cash off your CC in an emergency also!

We use the same as Tom mentioned with a Paypal card reader linked to a tablet with a small amount of data works fine for us and bar takings have increased by about 300% since having one plus makes it great on the bigger social occasions as we don't keep much cash on sight having been broken into over the winter the card machine saved us a big loss as was just after our New Years party event

I work in the payments industry, and these mobile POS solutions are a no brainer for places like cricket clubs who just need basic card acceptance. Don't know why anyone would sign a contract and hire a terminal any more. They are all much of a muchness to be honest, just look for the one that has the lowest transaction fee and reader cost. Check out Sumup, they have a promotion going this month for a cheap reader, and their fees are lower than most of the other alternatives.

If I was to purchase an Izettle for my business, would the cricket club also be able to use it to receive funds to their account, as well as me being able to use it personally for my business to accept payments?

I think you would just need to set up 2 accounts - but I am not responsible enough to use the App  :D :D

Just ordered the sumup. Online said £29 for the reader but saw a Facebook add shortly after for £19. Low fees as well so worth it

Pushed this to five or six clubs I know and they’ve all just taken it up. Hopefully it’ll work well
