Title: Brilliant Bat Bargains
Post by: Kulli on February 22, 2018, 12:09:04 PM
Might have been done before but fashion goes in cycles.

On the other end of the scale after recent SK GN threads, let's have a look at your absolute bat bargains.

I rarely buy new bats as I get 'the fear' when using them, and hate knocking bats in (and I'm Scottish!). So most of my bats are used ones from here or eBay. Some were good value and some were bargains. I'll post some of mines later on, but feel free to show off your bargains that David Dickenson would be proud of.

a GN Evo Carbo that I bought from @tim2000s for pennies went like an absolute cannon and lasted me a good few seasons. what a bat that was.

This massive Puma cost me about £35 on eBay almost brand new, definitely class it as a bargain:

Don't have it anymore but I got a brand new Puma 5000 bat from a car boot for £12.50.

The lady that sold it to me was selling on behalf of her Grand Son and I think she may have got the amount he wanted horribly wrong!

Apologies for digressing but I bought a GN Carbo Evo just before Xmas off EBay unused for £ 40.00  excellent ping the vibration through the handle  is awful specially when the ball hits the toe  can only think it's the Carbon strenghing sheet at the stress point behind the vee at the base  of the handle.
Any thoughts anyone.

If you have 2 pro performances most other bats you try are likely to fall short of those anyway, aren't they  ;)

I have a very similar one I got from here for around 120, basically unused, that'd be on my list for sure.

With the number that are bought then sold on without ever hitting a ball that isn't saying much, is it?  ;)

2/8
grade 2 (i would class)

Very soft will needs lots of knocking in i added the scuff pick up is great higher middle.

Also picked up a GN Select extreme for great work discount it has 47mm edges i think it 2/10.2oz. (not bad to say I'm not playing).....

the dints in the wall are yes you got it me hitting balls in the house...

I bought a 2017 GM Paragon F4.5 606 last week off of eBay for ££54.

Pretty pleased with it, it'll most likely be my main bat this season (I can't afford an arsenal of bats like some of you guys!).

What are people's opinions on the 'GM Now!' feature? Apparently, they bat comes knocked in, oiled and ready to play. Anyone had bats with this and have some feedback? Or played with the Paragon last season and have any comments about it's performance?

I would suggest you to knock in the toe and edges at least. I didn't, and have small surface cracks running along both edges.

Lekka Warrior bought for 20 quid. Lasted about 5 seasons (off and on) before the bottom half decided to attack the ump.

Has gaffa tape been tested as being a replacement for fibre tape? It may fail the 'does it look village' test though.
