Need a few new pairs for the upcoming UK season.
I liked the Horizon Test sock, but they barely managed a season. So. What's your weapon of choice when it comes to the underappreciated sock?
-
I used the Gray Nics velocity last season. Good socks but not the most hard wearing piece of kit
-
I use any cricket socks normally, but recently bought some Head Sports Socks Performance for gym and thinking of trying them for cricket. Not as thick as some cricket socks but comfortable and look hard wearing.

Plunkett wears grey socks.
-
I recommend one for each foot.
-
Yup loads of brands have grey cricketing socks :P
-
I use trusox they're great comfy and hard wearing
-
1000 mile cricket socks are generally regarded as the best
-
1000 mile are my favourite

I wear red or black football socks. I was brought up never to wear white socks. You don't see them anyway.
-
EM are good too. I like how they are cotton as opposed to Wool (Horizon/1000 Miles).

This time of year in Northern England you need wool socks. Wool everything if possible.
-
I just wear some white cushioned running socks. Usually under armour ones, but there are loads out there.
My view is that with the improvements in cricket shoes the necessity for some super thick padded socks has fallen away.
Also I don't really bowl these days so don't need the extra padding
-
Bridgedale walking socks, miles and miles better than anything else I've tried. Can be a bit of a pain finding a thinnish model in a suitable colour, but well worth it. Unfortunately not cheap or I'd have loads of them!

This has got to be a banning offence, surely?
-
Got my red cricket socks on now.

Coloured socks? Heresy! Even just grey should warrant a light beating.
I've been reading up about the Trusox that those football chaps swear by. The theory behind them looks fairly sound, but they're about 30 quid a pair. Same with Nikegrips.

Never found a better pair, and I've paid for Horizon etc in the past. Can't be beaten on value.

Go onto wish and get the Chinese equivalents, I've had both and they are very similar

I used to bat in my uni rugby socks
It was Notts Trent and they are pink!

No worries mate
-
Horizon or Morino wool socks from Aldi.
-
I realised that Falke socks are comfy and last for ages so I 'splashed out' and bought a few white sports ones just for cricket.
During the second wash something must have gotten in which shouldn't of. Now they're a fetching shade of pink.
They're still super comfy but now they'll last even longer because I hardly ever dare to ware them.
-
Stockpile - Aussie brand made with merino wool. Thick, soft and hard wearing ( insert your own jokes) worn by Aus test players
-
Ive gone against padded socks these days as my shoes are well cushioned . Lightness and comfort take priority . I have started using Injinji toe socks( mini crew /lightweight version) . Everyone knocks them but i find they help to splay the toes better so allow for a bit more stability. They are also the most comfy socks ive ever worn . Can't knock them til you try them !
-
My Chinese equivalent TruSox turned up today and I'm well impressed! Really good quality and well cushioned cheers @LEACHY48 !! Although Wish is dangerous and I've now spent a fortune!!!
-
Mine have turned up too, via ebay.
Look good, to be frank. No 'heat reactive' grippy bits on the inside of the sock as per Trusox, but the ones on the outside look as if they could do a good job.
-
The socks I wear used to be white, but they've been washed so many times they've turned a weird grey colour - is that still worthy of a fine?
-
Might have to try a pair of these Trusox.
Best I've found so far are British Army Desert Socks - snug fit, loads of cushioning and my feet don't sweat as much in them as they usually do.
-
Ive always wore grey wool mix socks. They’ve gone a bit crusty so had to be binned
Gonna look into these trusox things off wish

Had these ones as well - for £2 a pair you cant go wrong - couple of pairs and you're sorted!!
-
1000 mile socks are the only things I'll wear. Well worth the money (around £15) for a seasons wear.
-
Sleaze get trom sports Direct take some beating.

Sleaze get trom sports Direct take some beating.
I found that the elastic went in them after a few wears so not the ones for me!
-
My sports direct ones have lasted a season (probably 30 matches) and I fully expect them to last this season too. I have been Impressed by them.
-
May have to invest in a new pair for spares, the last ones I bought a couple of years ago were useless so they must be a new design.
-
I’m sure some are fantastic and some terrible, the possible
Lack of rigorous quality control makes their products cheap but of a variable quality perhaps.
-
That kind of thing wouldn't be uncommon across SportsDirect products :o

What's put you off the Horizon ones since last year mate?
-

Horizon are excellent but for a fraction of the price plus durability and comfort the sports Direct ones are also excellent.
-
Thanks Alan
I've used the 1,000 mile ones before but the elastic had gone after a season. I won't buy those again.
I'm using horizons at the moment but I've almost worm a hole in the heel. If the Slazenger ones are decent enough £2 a pair is more appealing than £12
-
The slazwngers or walking socks...
-
I didn't know there was such a thing as a cricket sock.
