Title: Pro Kippax bat
Post by: LEACHY48 on April 06, 2018, 08:57:31 PM
Acquired this through a friend who has a good connection with a few pros. Allegedly one of Mark Stonemans bats, and I believe it for a few of reasons. 1 the handle is forward set, Josh Gavan, who refurbed a load of Stonemans bats in the Ashes series confirmed that was a feature of Marks bats, also the weight is pretty much bang on at a smidge over 2.9, which again JP said stoneman uses. Stickered up as a Kook cause allegedly Butler nicked a couple of Marks bats. This part I have no proof for but no reason to disbelieve.

Specs are:
2. 9
41mm edges
66mm spine
28mm toe
22mm shoulders
Semi oval wavex handle

To be honest this bat is perfect for me in almost every way, one slight issue I have is the pick up which is actually heavier than expected but still feels good. Performance is great and I can't wait to hopefully score some runs with it.

Of course mate, not leaving my bag this season, might even have knocked your lovely TON off its pedestal 😂 @petehosk

Acquired this through a friend who has a good connection with a few pros. Allegedly one of Mark Stonemans bats, and I believe it for a few of reasons. 1 the handle is forward set, 2 the blade and handle length are that of a normal SH, 3 it had MS on the handle, 4 Josh Gavan, who refurbed a load of Stonemans bats in the Ashes series confirmed that points 1 and 2 were features of Marks bats, also the weight is pretty much bang on at a smidge over 2.9. Stickered up as a Kook cause allegedly Butler nicked a couple of Marks bats. This part I have no proof for but no reason to disbelieve.

It is nice when a bat has a bit of a background story. :) Good for you!

How is the ping?

Cheers mate, it pings as you'd expect to be honest. It has a deep crack sound with an old ish ball, very soft and probably won't last but the ball does fly off it

Looks nice. Not sure Jos would have got away using it as a Kook with big K stamps on the side, may have been a bit of a give away.

If it was Stonemans it must have been pre regulation about edge stamps/stickers on the lower blade.

Wouldn't be the first time a player uses a stamped bat and just applies tape over them though.

2 years ago when they still had the K stamp

Pro or not the Bat sounded good mate you looked very happy with your new toy! You should score some runs with it as you looked a decent player...:)

This may actually have been sighted too.

I thought the pros were loving Kippax's shorter blade thing?
