I don’t think it needs a handle but i’ve Not got a lot of experience with that type of crack.
-
I'd say needs a new handle as the crack goes into the handle itself.
-
It's a glue and dowel job

Thats what i think... handle is im place and no cracks on it...
So will go for a glue-dowel repair...
Will post pics after i finish this repair...
cheers..

It's a glue and dowel job
I don’t think it needs the dowels personally.... the glue will be stronger than it he original wood and it’s a larg surface area due to the angle of the crack

Although correct the dowels will make a more solid repair.

Personally I think the bat is done.
You can repair it with some glue and probably some string binding. But that is a gonner really.

Agree with Buzz, yes it can be fixed but personally don't think that it's worth a repair, that's a serious crack through the shoulder and will affect the handle, personally I wouldn't repair that but if the owner was adamant that it was to be repaired I would change the handle as well
-
I was shown this type of shoulder repair below, but having never done a lamitoe I cannot do this. Here is the repair.
1. Glue crack. 2. cut off handle. 3. Do like a lamitoe repair on the shoulders. 4 rehandle.

Looks like an excuse for a new bat to me! That's one hell of a crack, glue will hold it solid but the area around the crack could be weakened.

Time for a new bat once they go there they are never the same

Repair done... lets see if it holds next season...
Glued the crack... clamped it... 3 dowels... binded with nylon twine and tape..

Nice. What glue did you use? I always went for wood PVA but have now been using Gorilla Grip which is super hold fast. Should last for a while though with dowels and fibre tape.
-
Very nice job. You deserve it to last after such an effort.
-
Brilliant job. Twine looks nice too
