Title: New kind of leather palm

Inquired about these gloves from RTS (pic attached), the guy selling them tells me they made from Pattat or 'PalmLeather'.
I was very confused as i'm only familiar with the usual, calf, sheepskin, pittards etc.
Turns out it is some eco-friendly leather innovation.
Has anyone tried these before?

"Palmleather is a material innovation by Dutch designer Tjeerd Veenhoven that makes use of leaves from the Areca Betel Nut Palm. This palm variety grows throughout some of India’s poorest regions and sheds over 80 million square meters of leaves each year. While these leaves are an incredible material resource, they are unfortunately rarely used – partly because they become very dry and brittle in their raw state. Veenhoven however has developed a biological solution for softening these palm leaves, resulting in a plant-based material that is flexible and soft, with the feel of cow leather.

Offering a viable alternative to animal-based leathers, palmleather can be produced with far less pollution than other leathers. Products developed by the studio include bags, shoes, book covers and Palmetti, a fully biodegradable slipper for the hospitality industry."

Cant comment on the gloves but good that a waste product is being turned into a usable material

That alone is enough to put me off...

Speaking of vegan cricketers, buying kit must be a nightmare.
Seeing as virtually all top end softs and the ball are leather, what's their stance?

I guess PU pads and gloves, and when the ball made of leather comes near them, hit it as far away from them as possible.
