Title: New Crown beast.
Post by: potzy248 on April 16, 2018, 09:30:54 PM
Always wanted this shape and finally took the plunge. Unbelievable how much wood is in the bat, its huge. Pin knot on face probably not expected on the top end but I can live with it. Will be gone after a few cherries. Picks up a dream. Amazing profile and I don't know why Pros wouldn't use it more. Great service. Will be my match bat this season.

top class looks slighty modded to the original but really nice and agree the coverage on this profile is second to none.

That's one long spread of buttery wood!
If it's a crown, then as I understand it, it's primarily a very lightweight cleft. If you're lucky, it will have a clean face. And if you're really lucky, lots of grains too.
In sum, a Crown may not be the absolute best looker, because its primary feature is its light weight. (Though from my own experience with B3 they often are good lookers too.) But most importantly, it should go like a bullet train!

Trotty shape?

Yip 1271 with a couple of mods. Flat face, Square toe, Few mm off over all bat to get weight down to a manageable weight. Still can't believe the actual volume of the bat. Pick up is unreal.

Bat weighs a shade under 2.11. Im totally clueless as to how they get so much wood in with a thick handle.

Nice. I know, so much wood. Had a hit with it to day and she pings pretty hard all over. Love it.

Do you know what size cleft they used @Tailendfielder , was it a 340 density or heavier. I'd love one of these but it would have to be 2lb 9-10oz max

Really love this bat and shape. But surely you want the toe thicker than the shoulder?

I guess that’s why it picks up so well

The 1271 is indeed all about coverage and feel in a slightly higher weight due to wood coverage. I used one for the best part of 4 seasons and bar 2 other bats was the designed bat I have ever come across.

In terms of armature players like us who don’t always middle the ball the all round coverage of the bat is faboulous.

The question you should really be asking @Canners is why would you want more weight down the bottom when no bat has a middle down there and it just wasted weight. The tie was designed for integrity it’s still bigger than most and the shoulder as you correctly say allows for better pick up much better.

The biggest difference I see is the handle looks a tad thinner on both but great to see the Trott profile back.

I’m terms of volume only the tendulker x52 bomber and the warner had bigger overall mass of weight that I have seen and only the tendulker profile used more of a normal sized cleft. This bat brings back some memories @easbo

Shoulder is thicker by 1mm  :D lol

Every mm counts 😂

I think this is the only shape I can recall where the shoulders are thicker than the toe (even if only by 1mm)

Like I said I can imagine it makes it feel like a wand.
