So, I couldn’t figure out which section to add this so thought here would do.
Lots of rumours fly about but do we know who makes for Who?
I’ll make a list, feel free to add to it etc
Gunn and Moore -
Gray Nicolls -
Kookaburra -
Slazenger -
New Balance -
Spartan -
Puma -
Hunts County -
Adidas -
Salix -
Newbery -
-
I don't know the answer but..is there a custom softs forum?!
-
Gunn and Moore - SG (and others I think)
Gray Nicolls -
Kookaburra - SG
Slazenger - Sondhi
New Balance - Sondhi
Spartan - was SS, not sure now
Puma - SG
Hunts County -
Adidas - SS
Salix -
Newbery -
-
Hunts used to be SS but I don't know if that's still the case
-
Thought sondhi made puma?
I know kg and robinsons make quite a few for the small companies and even spotted a forum sponsor when I went to kg's factory!
-
If you look at the Hunts WK pads they are the same model as Adidas, Spartan etc
-
Slightly off topic but I recently got a Newbery SPS wheelie bag & the quality was good.
They sent it in a huge original box that must have had a shipment in and had “Newbery SPS Wheelie”
On the side.
I was surprised to also see “made in China” printed on the box!
I just wrongly assumed the bags would be made in India too?!
-
Isn't Salix SS? Not sure who makes Gray Nics, but M&H are also made by the same company, which may be Chinese?
-
A lot of bags are made in China, with the remaining softs made in India - pretty sure @Tom used to use a company in China for the Mongoose gears back in the day.
-
Wouldn't Gray Nicolls be made at Gray Nicolls India?

Genuine question....
Does it make a real difference to the quality of the softs dependent on which factory/who makes them? or do you just get what you pay for etc....? ie. Level of softs in the range.

Maybe not overall quality (though I'm sure there is a big difference in markups from company to company), but helps to know, manufacturers have certain traits that you maybe prefer etc.

To keep it short. Yes, it definitely makes a difference.
But that's dependent on how picky you are about your softs. For example, I am extremely picky in the finishing of the products - whilst the majority can source the same materials, for me the main differences is in the quality of finishing/stitching. I've personally used 4 different manufacturers and we've finally found one that we're happy with the quality of finishing/stitching.

For me (mr famous pads collector) it makes a big difference. I know a lot of people love SS made but I have found the quality on some of the pads they do really bad. That could be the pu, stitching or something else. If I can I try to avoid buying pads made from them. But that’s just me, it probably wouldn’t bother a normal person!!

I hate (yes, that strongly) the mesh strap lining on SS pads. Find it really irritable when netting in shorts.
So for me, yes, who makes the pads makes a huge difference...

100%. There's only one manufacturer I truly trust when it comes to softs. You'd be amazed at the difference in quality from one supplier to another (there's a good reason I always advise new start-ups to avoid one supplier in particular Champ).
Naturally having this level of quality obviously comes at a cost, but the end product is more than worth it as I'm sure those who use my softs would agree - not one complaint with the quality to date would generally confirm this!

Cheers @golders - really does mean a lot! Plenty of time spent on those so glad the end product is appreciated :)
