Title: shoulderless
Post by: tuffers007 on April 19, 2018, 02:39:13 PM: i have always been a fan of shoulderless bats so i thought i would have a go. unsure where to start the cuts but i soon realised my mistake. feels a little low down the handle but i carried on regardless. happy with the basic shape and it feels good in the hand. the only negative is the handle. feels too long and looks a little silly. i shall carry one however and maybe it could come in handy for t20 games. please have a look at the pics and let me know your thoughts. i will update the thread as i work on the bat

Post by: tuffers007 on April 19, 2018, 04:05:06 PM: i have started to blend into the handle. will put a pic up shortly. it is a big bat. will also post the measurements. also curved the toe like the other bat i posted. makes the toe end really chunky. looking forward to using this one!!

spine 73mm.
rounding the toe has slightly altered the feel due to the thickness of the toe. im tempted to drop the height of the spine to allow for better weight distribution as this should push the middle slightly higher up the blade.

Post by: tuffers007 on April 19, 2018, 07:04:10 PM: yep its a bit thick! I could take a good few mm out of it. with the size of the edges the spine really doesnt need to be so big. on the flip side, still plenty of wood in it so could even reduce the size of the edges.

i agree with the toe. 29mm is a bit extreme, unnecessary weight.

i decided on doing them first. in my head it sounded the like the right idea.

Post by: Red Ink Cricket on April 19, 2018, 07:44:38 PM: Shoulders look good mate! It’s keep the toe shape the same, just drop it 5mm rather than concaving. Think the shape looks good so don’t change it, just reduce the dimensions slightly to make it work better

have to say the heel shave i got from you is my new favourite toy!

Post by: tuffers007 on May 04, 2018, 02:25:15 PM: finally finished this. all thats left is to bind the handle and to apply a grip along with some magic wax. absolutely loved shaping it. i may do another. i dropped the toe a little along with the edges but left the high spine. picks up really well. looking forward to using it.
my finishing still needs improving. have a drum sander but unable to use at the moment due to lack of space. so all done by hand, exhausting!!

another bat for myself so was just playing with shapes and style. not finished in the slightest but so far so good. toe is a little on the thin side but nothing i can do about that now.
