Title: Best gloves for SWEATY PALMS!!!!!
Post by: Kanak on April 23, 2018, 06:27:22 AM
Hi
Myself a club cricketer has really sweaty hands, like really. More than the average sweaty man. I soak a pair of gloves within 20 minutes. I have the AU Gray Nicolls Atomic 1400 Gloves and an old pair of Kookaburra Something 700 gloves. I find that fresh and dry the GN have great grip but as I sweat they lose grip...Quickly. The Kookas have the better grip as I sweat through them. I am confused as to whether I should use inners or just invest in more cheap gloves or one top of the line glove. Any tips from other sweaty people and what gloves are better or any tips on drying them after practices and games.
Cheers
Kanak

I think the GN Legends had a special type of Pittard in them that got grippier as they were sweaty, might be worth having a look at.

If not, have you tried inners?

I'm a huge sweater as well, all my gloves have pittard palms I wouldn't use any other palm if your a huge sweater, I've always used inners and they really have saved my gloves, so if I was you I'd invest in plenty of inners you might want to try fingerless as they feel slighty different to full finger inners and buy some pittard palm gloves

Hi
Thanks for the reply but my GN Atomic's have the Gripster Pittard anyways but I still find a way to sweat to the point where the bat goes flying. As for inners I have not tried them but will give them a shot.

Thanks, I'll definitely use inners now and maybe will try another pair. Any thoughts on the Adidas Libro 1.0 Gloves for 2018?

I think it's all down to personal preference @Kanak, they certainly look like a decent glove

I am also a big sweaty mess when batting. I would echo the above and use pittards, if you can look for the best deals and buy a couple of pairs of them and then rotate

@Kanak , My hands get sweaty too and I end up changing gloves during an innings. Newbery gloves have good ventilation. Take hands out of gloves between plays. Not sure leather "type" solved my problem.

If your hands get sweaty you need gloves that are not pittard leather palms, I find pittards get very slippery very quick regardless of what ppl say. Get some other gloves and use an inner, change inners when they start getting wet and not the gloves.

Everyone is different, my hands sweat and I don't like pittards others say the opposite...gloves that I have got on with is the asian calf leather etc like the BAS ones

I don't want to brag, but I have the ultimate solution for sweaty palms, I have been doing this for over 10 years and have never suffered from them despite being a heavy sweater...

Miss a straight one 5th ball.

Fingerless inners are the way to go - buy a few pairs as I find they don't last too long - stretch really easily.

I can't bat withought them now, do get through 5-6 pairs a season but gloves last me 2-3 years so well worth it in the long run.

Couple of other points to mention although I'm not a massive sweaty Betty when it comes to batting.

Talc powder on your hands before you bat, I always do this and seams to keep sweat away for a while,

2nd how often do you change the grip on your bat? I find after 3-5 decent length knocks my grip starts to lose grip so I change my grip on average every month when taking into account net practise, also a lot cheaper than changing gloves

Hi
Thanks for all the input will definitely try inners and I always take my gloves between plays and at the Non-strikers end. And I also agree with @tushar sehgal I think pittards just doesn't work for me. Any inners or particular ones like Kooka or GN?
Cheers

if you don't get on with inners try fingerless ones, I have full hand ones but barely noticed i had fingerless ones on feel wise.

Although I havent tried talc powder this would work - but changing your grip would help alot like @SOULMAN1012 I do this once a month or so throughout the season and it makes a big difference.

Have you tried anti-perspirant on your hands? It might work.

I cant stand them, cant do thick grips let alone any more padding on the glove. Sweat a lot but a good glove seems to solve it.

What is that Good Glove in question?

I'm using Salix players and have been for the last season and seem to do a very good job.

I’ve always thought that the liquid chalk stuff I use at the gym would be good for keeping hands dry whilst batting??!!
Only about £5 a bottle and will last ages as a little goes a long way.

Or maybe worth trying these hybrid gloves without using the inner glove?

Any advice please on how to last that many?

I really don’t think there’s any such thing as good gloves for sweaty palms. The only foolproof solution is to buy more gloves and rotate.

In all seriousness does anyone use liquid talc at all?  There used to be a sports product called Physio that had a "grip" product that was brilliant for squash etc and i used to use for cricket but once it ran out i made do without. Seems like there are more liquid talc products now (for kids etc) so may be worth a  go as cheap option too if you don't like inners?

I am glad somebody revived this thread because that was a major problem for me as well. And, I found a solution !

Solution: buy and keep more than 2 pairs of gloves in your kit bag.

I hate putting chemicals on my hands. Inners get hot and wet. Basically, the only thing that works for me is a fresh pair of gloves once the current pair is too wet. I generally get a good mileage out of two pairs in an innings if I stay long enough on the crease. :D

I still love my Newbery gloves as they provide very nice protection and ventilation.

My Son is a Goalie and uses this stuff called Glove Glu, now I'm not sure whether it would work on Leather but maybe if you applied liquid latex to the palm of the glove it would have the same affect? basically it gives more grip the wetter it gets.

I have this issue. I just deal with it by changing gloves every 10 overs or if needed, more frequently than that. So I make sure to carry few sets of gloves always.

I wear inners but usually sweat through them in 10 overs and the gloves start taking on the moisture. I usually change inners at the drinks break (50 mins in) and let the other ones dry for the next session and then swap back (If I ever last that long haha)

If not, have you tried inners?

I have a huge issue with sweaty palms and the GN legends are by far the best I have come across in terms of ability to soak up sweat whilst maintainng grip.  Ultimately though using multiple pairs of gloves and changing during your innings is the only option as no gloves can absorb moisture indefinitely

I do a lot of bodybuilding and use liquid chalk to keep hands grippy and dry. Worth a try? Can get it from ebay, myprotein.com etc. It works brilliantly in the gym and lasts a while!

I've heard about liquid chalk before and would like to try that.

Not that I'm out in the middle long enough anyway but in the nets I've found Kook gloves with kangaroo leather to be pretty good.
