After purchasing an SF on here, i knocked it in for a few hours, scuffed sheeted it and didn't use it for a couple months as i was injured. My mate's bat then broke last week, so i lent him this one for a couple weeks whilst he repaired his.
He batted for 6 balls on Saturday before getting out, and then used it for 4 balls today before this happened. He played a forward defence and the handle literally snapped off! I have no idea what on earth happened here, and i think it just about sums up my day! 10 balls this bat lasted, ah well!

Send it back. Dud handle. Manufacturing issue.
Surprised no one jumped on this already saying you should check for a nail. :D

That is scary.
I bought an SF from a reputable vendor. The bat hasn't seen a day of nets or a ball for that matter. I just hope the handle is fine! It'd be a shame if something were to happen to the bat. :(

wow. I think you have a lock solid case for a replacement there! :)

SF is certainly a brand I would never touch, handle issues seem to be really common, be it nails or just poor quality handles

Where it broke Was there any rubber inserts in the handle or was the handle made without proper shock absorbers

I'm with you on this. In the 2nd photo there seems to be a big hole where something should be. Very poor construction.

Get them to pay for a rehnadle instead, saves them cash and you get a bat with a decent handle in it. Win win.

Unfortunately this was bought second hand on here (hadn’t been used) so I’m just going to have to take the loss on this one!

A rehandle would be doing you a favour anyway...

?? something we don't know happening here?

Same thing happened to my SS ton vision bat after a month of use. Rehandled it but the bat was a plank after, dont know what happened.

Tricky to know what to do here if it's bought second hand from here, I had the same with a great used bat that literally broke in half, on close inspection and a bit of research it was hand picked and storm damaged which is why handpicking bats only works if the people picking them know what to look for. I'm not a fan of handpicking as you can tell.
I guess for your bat there are different quality cane handles......you don't see this that often so manufacturing fault yes....or it could just be a cheaply made handle.
As @Seniorplayer has spotted it looks like it's missing some rubber inserts
If this was mine I think presuming you like the bat I would take it to warsop/h4l/salix or maybe red ink for a new handle.
Just looked on the salix website and a new handle is 50 quid so not cheap, but at least you have the knowledge it's a decent handle.
Always a chance thou I suppose as above post the bat is not the same
Second hand bats are always a risk, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not
