Title: What to do?
Post by: LEACHY48 on May 18, 2018, 08:08:10 PM
Hi guys picked up this bat a couple weeks back, not used it till today and then I discovered there's a crack under the back sticker that's obviously been repaired. I honestly don't believe that the person I bought it from knew about this damage but it looks to me as if its been repaired at source during manufacturing. The bat has been used twice and is more or less brand new. Do I have any recourse here? Is my best bet to hope the seller bought it direct from the manufacturer and we can then go down that avenue? Any thoughts or advice? Pic below.

If it's an Asian brand, then good luck taking it to the manufacturer and getting a recoup of your money. You will be extremely lucky if they get a replacement of the same kind at no additional cost.

Depends on how much you spent, perhaps just keep using it till it dies on you ... doesn't look like the crack will effect performance.

The filler(?) and the crack look like two different things but may be wrong.

You could ask the seller for help and the manufacturer has no obligation to help- it is the retailer who they would have to take this up with.

You win some and lose some with secondhand bats I guess

It's a Keeley bat, there's no filler that's sticker residue, but yeah I'm gonna email tim tonight and see what he says

If the split is not deep the bat should be okay

Agreed!

If that was an Asian brand / non-forum loved brand everyone would be up in arms about it.

Am I the only one that finds this unacceptable? Hell if I received through a bat with a split in the splice then it'd be back to the supplier in an instant. Baffling!

Yep. He needs to take it up with Keeley.

My only issue is I bought it second hand off someone that didn't buy it direct so I don't really have much recourse
